Whether it's a one-year deal or a long-range reality, we seem to have entered a period of time where margin or error among the growing upper-echelon of college football is non-existent.

The good news is, ND is absolutely among the upper echelon again. And I'll take my chances with this group and this coaching staff on any Saturday. There is no one that scares me.

ND is no longer burdened by a lack of talent.

It's all execution now.

And when you take the field against good teams every Saturday - and ND does that on a weekly basis - it's not enough just to bring your talent level.

EG played a careless game yesterday. You can't do that.

I agree to an extent. But watching Alabama and LSU's defense, wow. That is just another level.

Either Alabama or LSU would destroy ND right now. ND's lack of defense and EG's turnovers would kill the Irish.

I bet you are a real hit at parties. Good Lord, you are a sourpuss.

You have no idea how we would would fare against them. Nobody does.

Just what did I say that was wrong? Does ND have a defense? Is EG a turnover machine? Take off the rose colored glasses and see things the way they are.

moneyline on bama vs nd would be -550 to -1000 on bama. but probably wouldnt even be a moneyline because NO ONE would take the irish to win.

I am seeing things for what they are. You are a sourpuss.

Have we struggled defensively lately? Sure, but we also have a lot of young talent that is capable of stopping anybody.

Has EG turned the ball over too much? Absolutely, but he also has proven he can win games almost by himself.

As with a lot of things in football, there is a gray area.

With the problems the Irish are experiencing RIGHT NOW they are an average team. Until they get these problems corrected they will remain an average team.

Right now Alabama, TCU, Auburn and LSU would beat ND.

ND is getting better but ya, Bama would hand them theirs. If I recall, that actually happened not too long ago.

See a pattern with the teams you listed?

Expecting to hang with teams from the deep south and recruiting hotbed of Texas, combined with the availability of JUCOs, is like expecting to land in Manchester and kick some *** at soccer. We have a lot more work to do.

So four of the best 10 teams in the nation would beat ND, butcthatcmakes them average?

Notee Dame has lost to the #2 ranked team on a questionable call and the #7 team after 5 TO.

You guys make it seem like ND lost to Northwestern St and Lower Manhattan U.

Does it matter HOW ND lost those 2 games???? Bottom line is they lost.

Sure. They lost to #2 and #7 and you say they are average because of it. Average teams aren't ranked in the top 15.

Good teams find a way to win. Good teams correct mistakes to make themselves better. Good teams have that certain attitude, that certain swagger that makes other teams start to think they are defeated before the game even starts.

Notre Dame has not shown any of these traits. They are 1-2 in the past 3 games and could very easily have lost to North Carolina. BK needs to change some things on this team. If that means making a change at QB so be it. The Irish are out of the running of the final 4, what harm would it do to see what MZ can do? If EG goes down with an injury MZ is the new QB. See what he can do now instead of throwing him in cold turkey in a game that really matters.

Good teams find a way to win.

Like 4th and 11 vs Stanford?

Good teams find a way to win, but then you criticize them for winning against North Carolina? How does that work? They played sloppy at the start and found a way to win, exactly what you said.

So who are good teams then?

Alabama blew a 4th quarter lead in their loss.

Auburn fumbled on the 1 to lose their game.

LSU blew a game to Alabama.

TCU blew a 21 4th quarter lead.

Michigan St blew a second half lead.

Ohio St lost to a team with a losing record.

Ole Miss fumbled going in to win the game.

So all of these teams lost games they were in control of and didn't find a way to win. Not good teams.

I guess you didn't read the part about correcting mistakes.

You didn't address his question, so losing to 2 top 10 teams and matching fsu snap for snap makes them average? They aren't yet elite which is where we want and expect them to be but to say they're average is ludicrous. Average is what we experienced through davie, ty and weis, this program is light years ahead of where it was then

I guess you didn't read the part about correcting mistakes.

Auburn just lost yesterday, same as ND.

Michigan St didn't correct mistakes against spread offense.

LSU still doesn't have a QB 10 games into the year.

Plenty if teams have warts. ND isn't exclusive in the club.

I guess they are all average teams.lol

ND needs to clean things up on the offensive line, and EG needs to stop turning the ball over. I wouldn't mind seeing Zaire if EG has another big turnover day.. He does need to understand he can't do that and keep his job... The defense I don't think played terrible, however man we missed Schmidt in the middle... We were gashed all day in the run game. We are a good team not a great team. Defense is too banged up and EG makes to many mistakes... But the ingredients are there for a great team.

Two years ago bro. Let it go. Two completely different teams now.
