"I'm going to make my choice mainly on academics, life after football and my chances to make it in the NFL. I just want to know for sure that I'm going to be in a good atmosphere for me. The most important thing to me is going to be my relationship with my position coach because I'm going to spend so much time with him."

"It's still 60-40 Notre Dame. When I commit, I'm not going to have another press conference or anything. I'm just going to call the coaches and let them know my decision. It will happen sometime after my USC visit."

good job TD, i 'em now 100% convinced that GG will be irish.

when is his USC visit?

September 29

also note that rivals has ND as high and USoC has medium interest for gray

Thats a beautiful thing. Thanks for the info TD

Great info TD thands.

thanks TD

Im not a paying customer over at Blue and Gold but they have an article on Gary Gray. The teaser states something to the effect of: he has a pretty good idea of where he wants to go but he's taking a couple of visits to make sure his second commitment is the right one.

I would have to assume that he would be Irish from these comments. Maybe not who knows?

Hmmm? Nice Legacy :)

S. Carolina losing 18-0 at the start of the 4th. I wonder what Gray is thinking to himself watching this game in person, lol. I hope he fully verbals to ND sometime early in the week.

Illinois, got smoked. We smeared the Nittany Lions. Scar got handled. FSU was having trouble with the girls school. Looks like the recruits had a convincing day.

Don't forget about the Buffs, they are 0-2 after losing to rival CSU today.

Here's to Mr. Steve Inferior and his band of weenies (oh I mean gamecocks)! Nah, nah, nah, nah. Nah, nah, nah, nah. Hey, hey. Goodbye (Gary Gray).

I called a 3-9 season for the old, lame ball coach! I feeling nervous about that prediction. He may be 1-11! Oh how I'd love to be wrong!

Bring back Lou!

COLUMBIA -- Gary Gray was sound asleep one morning before school last week, when at 7:15 a.m., the phone rang and woke him.

As if that wasn't startling enough, Gray was even more surprised when he heard the voice on the other end.

It was Charlie Weis, the head coach of Notre Dame.

"(Weis) had told me he was going to call," Gray said Saturday before the start of the South Carolina-Georgia game. "He was just checking to see how I was doing. He hadn't talked to me in awhile."

The Fighting Irish and South Carolina are in a recruiting battle for Gray, a star cornerback and quarterback at Richland Northeast. Gray originally committed to USC, but after visiting Notre Dame early this summer, he changed his mind and de-committed.

Gray, the No. 26-ranked overall prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com, attended the Gamecocks' game Saturday and will head to South Bend, Ind., for the Fighting Irish's showdown with Michigan next weekend.

"Right now, I'm about 55-45 in favor of Notre Dame," he said before Saturday's game.

Those odds dropped slightly, after Gray told ESPN he was "60-40" for Notre Dame at the Byrnes-Glades Central (Fla.) game two weeks ago.

Gray's official visit to USC is Sept. 28, when the Gamecocks host Auburn in prime time on ESPN. While he has been to countless games at Williams-Brice Stadium, Gray's visit to South Bend next weekend will be his first for a game.

As evidenced by Weis' call, the Fighting Irish are keen on landing the Columbia native.

"He said it was his first call to any recruit (this fall)," Gray said. "He wanted to see how my grades were and wished me good luck on my game that day."

Gray has been keeping in close contact with Notre Dame assistant coach Bill Lewis, who coaches the secondary.

"I have a real good relationship with him," Gray said. "He gives me updates on how the corners are doing and what's going on with the team."

Gray spent a lot of time with Fighting Irish freshman cornerback Raeshon McNeil of North Carolina in his last visit to South Bend and says "he could fit in nice" with the team's secondary.

Wherever he ends up, Gray said he should have a chance to play next year as a true freshman.

"They're both short on corners," Gray said of USC and Notre Dame. "I feel like I can play at either."

Though he is currently leaning toward Notre Dame, Gray said leaving his hometown school would indeed be difficult.

"It's going to be hard," he said. "I just have to make the right decision."

Gray will graduate in December and enroll early in the spring.

no suprise here, hes going to tell the USoC guys what they want to hear, and making it closer to 50-50 was the best he could do

he will be irish, no one freak out

I thought he was supposed to go to the USCar game last night, then the ND game this week. When did he flip flop it?

no USoC asked him awhile ago to come the weekend of the auburn game because that auburn game is on thursday so they can spend some more time with him on saturday

they said this weekend they wouldnt have time to spend with him because of it being such a big game

auburn being on thursday gives them extra time to spend with gray

Try as they might, there is not enough time for them to convince GG to recommit to them. Gray is Irish, Barksdale will prob. be Irish, and the news on Williams is really comforting also. We are starting to put together one hell of a defense. With all the studs we've got coming in this year it will be tough for PSU to beat us next year in Happy Valley.

Gray: 80/20---Irish

Defensive recruiting is starting to pick up.... I love it.
