They also liked Michigan so keep that in mind---;)

Rational by multiple analysts basically similar

We haven't played a team with a winning record so you can,t put much stock in 4-0

Golson is playing like a HEISMAN candidate BUT overall our offense is not that good---not much of a run game .

Golson throws TOO MUCH to beat a team like Stanford with the pressure they put on QBs

Stanford's defense just too strong for our one-dimensional offense

Only Golson seemed to get ANY love from the espn guys---

NOTHING SAID BY ANY OF THEM ABOUT OUR DEFENSE....defensive chatter was all Stanford, Stanford ,Stanford.

It would be so great if the DEFENSE THAT SHOWS UP IS THE ND DEFENSE!

ESPN is like Vegas bookmakers: they spout out what serves them best.

Not to be taken at face value.

Which would be great if Stanford didn't already lose to the only good team they played.

Meanwhile they promote the matchup between top 10 Ole Miss who hasiterly beat no one.

Would you expect anything but that from BSPN? If they had the ND home game package in their back pocket, they would be singing a different tune -- the Notre Dame Victory March -- promoting their marquee team at every turn on every commercial!

Did you see the game? I'm not asking that as a form of passive-aggressive criticism. I'm just asking.

I'm in So Cal so I almost can't avoid their games. In any event, Stanford completely outplayed USC.

It was like watching somebody a pitch a 3-hitter and lose because of a couple of errors, a walk and a bloop single.

The highlights of the game and the final score don't do it justice.

I was watching a channel with Aaron Taylor and 3 of them picked Notre Dame and one picked Stanford. Taylor of course picked Notre Dame. But me, Faith and Hawaii pick Notre Dame so that is where the smart money goes.

Yeah I for 1 don't really care what ESPN thinks. This team is IRISH. With a heart and soul of Joe Schmidt, the grace and athleticism of Jaylon Smith, the never quit, give me that ball one more Time of Everett Golson. The toughness of a Cory Robinson who will get cartwheeled with a broken hand. The speed of a rising star in Will Fuller.

I don't give a DAM* what they think. I'm with the IRISH

Most of what I've heard is about the schedule so far as well. ND hasn't played anyone yet so Stanford will win. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Just horrible reasoning....

Great post and 100% spot on. It has been so long since I watched ND and didn't honestly worry about the mistakes they were making. I have been at ease for all 4 of these games for a reason. They're very talented.

I believe ND is going to beat Stanford this weekend, not only because ND is very talented, but because I have watched Stanford, and they are NOT the Stanford Jim H. put on the field. They are good, but they are not great. ND will field a GREAT team.

Right. And they turned around and did the same thing vs Washington. Two games starts to be a trend.

Obviously Stanford could win, but to this point I think ND has played four more difficult games than them and has 0 losses.

some espn douche said that Stanford scored two years ago on 4th down....come on man!

Stirring the pot is what they are paid for. F them and their dance with the Devil. I would NEVER work for ESPN, unless I was a former athletic superstar and enjoyed butt-loads of cash and babes. Wait...

Espn would like the boy scouts if that was who we were playing. It is what it is.

Thank you

Yours truly

Stewart Scott.

Wait wait wait though. I thought many on here from the "Golson and the media" thread felt ESPN didn't have any ill feelings towards ND at all. It is clearly apparent they are blinded by our 4-0 record and convincing victory margin over all our opponents. Or, possibly it's that this team is 1 year removed from playing in the national championship game and going 12-0 in the regular season. Or, more than likely, it's the fact that Golson never loses.

ESPN does not like Notre Dame. Now or ever. F' em!!!

Making the best ANTI-STANFORD case......

Giving them much credit for the win over Washington is "suspect"

One of the worst Hawaii teams we have ever had out here, and we have had some bad ones....played even with the huskies---17-16

Every team we have played would have beaten Hawaii by 28 points or more...Washington is not very good. Wins over Georgia state--eastern Washington ( never heard of them)--illinios & Hawaii-- UGH---Hawaii was there best close win and they are total CRAPOLA----WASHINGTON WIN MEANS NOTHING!!

The SHUTOUTS---Geez Army and UC davis--( I didn't know UCdavis played football)----there defense may be good but those games tell you NOTHING!!

The USC game----this really is the best they have....and they lost that one...it is true they dominated the game but Hogan choked time and again...the team got flustered easily....and was so poor in the redzone they could only squeeze out a single TD!---They were a disorganized bunch that let the game slip away--that's not a good sign.

So its RIDICULOUS on its face to give them any props for who they played vs who we played... yes they played the best opponent and that might mean something IF THEY HAD WON THE FREAKIN GAME!--

They have a HIGHLY SUSPECT OFFENSE.....

We are bumped for having a weak run game---well Stanford has a weak run game as well......its not like they have ANY advantage there.

Passing is ALL ND---Golson is a Diamond and Hogan is a Topaz---Golson has had 4 exceptional games and has yet to be even challenged by a defense for more then a quarter yet alone stopped!

Special Teams---Favor ND +1

Home field-------Favor ND--been RED HOT at home over the last 16 games +1

Passing attack----Favor ND +1

Run game-------even

Defense---they give up 7 we give up 11---Army & UC davis would loose to every team we played badly-----

ND has been playing terrific defense against the competition we played

Being generous give them a slight advantage based on gaudy stats

Defense--+1/2 Stanford

Out of 5 points

That's 3 points for ND!

1 point even

a half point only for the cardinal!

Looking at every phase of the game individually and home field---

IRISH WILL BE HARD TO BEAT ON SATURDAY!!!!

I know that NBC has 7 home games for ND but does ABC/ESPN have 4 away games? Not sure about CBS.

Yes. Generally, ESPN/ABC will do all of ND's away games. Occasionally, if ND is playing at Navy or Army, CBS may do it, as they do more academy games. ALL home games are always NBC as you mentioned. Bowl games are a crapshoot.

I watched David Price throw a one hit complete game against the Rays this year and lose 1-0... :(

Irish +2 at Home... My mouth is watering
Really? The money must have moved to ND then, as I believed Stanford opened as a 1 point favorite.
