I would love to see Golson win the Heisman this season, but I think his real shot is next year. With Mariota, Winston, and Gurley going to the NFL, he will be one of the lead guys returning as a Heisman favorite. Enjoy the ride this year fellas, because he will carry us to a great season, but next year will be his Heisman campaign.

Right now:

Marcus Mariota (QB Oregon)

9/2

Todd Gurley (RB Georgia)

7/1

Kenny Hill (QB Texas A&M)

9/1

Everett Golson (Notre Dame)

10/1

Jameis Winston (QB Florida State)

10/1

He's tied for fourth. IF Notre Dame can beat FSU, it'll be Golson's trophy to lose.

Don't care about the Heisman.

It's a farce. Look at the current Heisman Trophy Winner. What a joke.

Most important thing.... You win as a team, you lose as a team.

Just win baby.

I think he has shot this year, but a much better shot next year. It's going to be hard to pass up Mariota I think no matter what Golson does. Would love to be proven wrong though.

Lots of football left. Anything is possible. We have seen that over the past couple of years. Hiss buzz is increasing though.

Don't care about the Heisman.

and the one before that... the last two Heisman's have been ridiculous.

I tend to agree... but EG winning the Heisman would be great for ND football. Especially in recruiting.

Amazing he's on the list when you consider his path. Impressive kid. No quit in him.

Who cares about next year cause he's going to win it this year.

That path was self-forged...including short cuts...

I know they say it's still a long year, but the first three games are a fairly good indicator of how a person will perform the rest of the season (notice I didn't say team)

We all know, as a team, strong starts can lead to disappointing finishes

But, more or less, a star player on a team will continue to make plays throughout the year

That path was self-forged...including short cuts...

Yes, that's what's most impressive about it. A flawed hero. An opportunity for redemption. It's the story of humankind.

Don't care about the Heisman.

Don't be absurd. A Heisman is almost as important as a national title. Right now, we're tied for the most Heisman winners with tOSU and USC. We haven't had a Heisman winner since '87. It's embarrassing really, we need a modern Heisman winner. Winning an eighth would give us bragging rights over tOSU and USC. Winning an eighth would mean less features of black and white pictures of past Heisman winners... Winning an eighth is a FANTASTIC recruiting tool.

Who cares what the Heisman has become? It still helps the brand.

Shoot...half those Heisman winners wore leather helmets and our last one, was back when uniforms were mesh and usually cut-off at the midriff...

Piratey, are you the one that was doing the stats comparison on typical Heisman QB stats vs. EG's stats so far? I only ask because I haven't seen it for after this last game (granted, I didn't look either :-) ) but just based off of the eyeball test and the non-xbox like numbers, I had EG's chances at winning the Heisman this year just slightly better than mine.

USC only claims six Heismans. Whoever won it in 2005 gave it up. ;)

Holy crap! I take back my comment about his chances.

That F$U game might turn out to be the most important regular season game in all of college football (assuming both teams can keep winning).

EDIT: Thanks for the #s!!
