That actually totally sucks. I hate night games, and I was going to make the trip to see this game, but I highly doubt it now. In addition to not wanting to make the four hour drive from 12:00 am to 4:00 am home, both other night games I have been to there are just too many drunken idiots that are disrespectful to my kids.

In the one night ND game I have been to (USC 2012), the crowd was very respectful. I had no issues before, during, or after the game. That sucks you've had to go through that with your kids. Best of luck if you decide to make the trip.

glad I got my motel room for Saturday night too

I work afternoons and nights so it's nice to be able to get off at 10pm and at least be able to catch the second half. 8pm is fine with me.

No you are not. One or two night games a year is ok. This is getting ridiculous.

Next thing you know the Cubs will be wanting to play at night at Wrigley Field... oh wait.

I've noticed that the past few years, night games have gone up significantly

2008 - 3

2009 - 4

2010 - 4

2011 - 6

2012 - 6

2013 - 7 (AF started at 5pm)

2014 - 7 (I'm assuming that FSU, ASU, and USC will be night games)

The main reason is that ABC/ESPN loves it when one of the teams they have rights over, plays Notre Dame...they know Notre Dame is a huge draw (especially when ND is good). So of course, ABC/ESPN would want the Notre Dame game to be a night game, even if it is Syracuse

NBC has also gotten into the act by making all SS games night games, and now making night games out of the USC and Michigan games the past two times we've played them at home

Networks know a Notre Dame game will always be one of the top 5 in viewership, so it would make sense to schedule more prime-time games

I prefer afternoon games when attending in person and night games when watching on TV. Easier to get a group of people together at night.

Bingo. Oh the joys of driving out of South Bend on the way past Chicago at night. Not. :car:

I like both night and day games. I do find myself lamenting some of the lack of pomp and circumstance of today's game though. Every time I watch one of the old clips from the 80s on Youtube I feel like something is lost in this world of digital internet entertainment. Maybe just me.

I have always liked afternoon games better. Perhaps this is because I am all amped up and don't have to wait as long. It may also be that for a number of years ND had an abysmal record when playing night games. It is easier for me to handle now that they have been having more success in prime time. I have to say that, as far as attending a game, nothing beats a perfect Fall afternoon in South Bend. It is even more cherished since my wife coerced me into moving to Florida.

At least Notre Dame has never caved and played on Thursday nights. I watch the occasional Thursday game, but I'm a purist and think real teams play on Saturdays!

Prefer afternoon but ESPN/ABC had to licking their chops getting an East Coast audience with ND in town. No brainer for this game. At least I'll get to see the game as doing the Dad thing and moving one of the kids back to school so the long drive from MI to NY...won't have to listen to the radio...small win I suppose.

Well at least you won't ever have to worry about any Cubs' night games after September.....

Way back in the day, they did play Vandy on Thursday night in Nashville. It was the late 90's - can't quite remember. I was at the game - it was a sleeper from what I recall. No Thursday night buzz.

I thought you changed your name?

Generally, we don't have to worry about ANY Cubs games after May. ;)

This is pure blasphemy. Notre Dame should vacate that win and go to a collective confession for that.
