Remember Al-Quadin Muhammad? Everyone on this board wanted ND to get him but he picked Miama. He has been suspended for the semester over an off-field disciplinary matter.

Muhammad was allowed to practice with the team while university officials assessed whether he violated Miami's code of conduct by getting into an altercation with another student last spring.

Miami defines such a suspension as a "complete separation from the university." Muhammad cannot attend classes until the suspension is lifted after the fall term.

He was from powerhouse Don Bosco Prep here in New Jersey, a teammate of Shumate.

Guess he wasn't an RKG after all.

Everyone came on this board and said AQM was a 100% lock for ND. And then they were all wrong, and then he shot up the rankings by an average of 200 spots per recruiting site. That kid was awesome, but it wasn't hard to figure out that he wasn't going to work at ND. He gave an interview one day...so I went to watch. And I remember everyone saying how smart he was and blah blah blah. Basically everyone was just typing to type, because nothing anyone said was correct. I listen to the interview and immediately knew that this kid was an idiot. He doesn't even speak English...it's literally ebonics. He was probably nervous but he kept saying he'd be beastin over and over again. Honestly I cringed thinking that person would get into ND. And he never said why he chose Miami, but everyone figured out it was because admissions didn't allow him into ND...as they shouldn't have. I don't think ND would've helped him, he would've failed here most likely.

He was an earlier version of Isiah McKenzie. Great talent, but just couldn't get him past admissions.

Was that actually what happened with McKenzie? I didn't hear that to be the case.

That is what happened. He was a heavy ND lean, but could not get past admissions and it was right after the Tee Shepard incident, so you know admissions was on top of their game.

He kept taking his ACT to try and get high enough to qualify, and it got to January and he wasn't qualified at ND, and then he had the big week at his all star game and got a couple offers. I think he stopped trying and left elsewhere. Couldn't score high enough and he stopped trying once he had other options.

noah spence was suspended from OSU indefinitely.......big loss.......

Yup. Noah Spence told his parents he has an addiction to ecstasy that he can't handle. A 2nd positive test for ecstasy at tOSU.

wow, you going to enter the 21st century anytime soon? why not tone it down a bit.

from what I've heard, most people feel it was wrong for him to be suspended. Apparently he had family in town which caused an issue with his room mate. The room mate bumped into his nephew and they tussled a bit.

He may have had academic concerns but I do not believe they had anything to do with his suspension. Nor does it mean he's an "idiot"

AQM was an ND lock until he couldn't made the grade.

He wanted to go to ND, we just couldn't take him.

Hope he lands somewhere and performs.

Oh and it's awfully easy to criticize a kid who struggles to express himself in front of people/cameras. If someone wanted to judge my intelligence on my HS public speaking skills, I'd be riding the short bus.

How do you possibly get addicted to ecstasy? These kids are unbelievable at times.

His parents are calling it a "medical condition".

Yeah, Don Bosco has been a weird school to us. We got Shumate. We missed out on Muhammad, Yuri Wright was expelled before he was able to commit, Trattou switched late from us, and even the whole Brian Toal/Willingham couch debacle.

Easy enough. It might not be the kind of drug a person uses daily, but then it also depends on the blend. While there is the euphoric effect of typical MDMA, many times it is heavily laden with amphetamines which can make a person wildly effective in addition to being euphoric.

I know a number of people who have fried their brains through long term ecstasy use. It might not be like popping pills or drinking, but I can see a kid developing an issue with going out and taking the drug socially often.

From my experience with drugs, I will agree with you that it does seem a little outside the norm, but I could see it happening. Sorta.

and even the whole Brian Toal/Willingham couch debacle.

What was deal with this? Was it something about Golfingham not leaving the kid's house?

That was the gist of it. Apparently he was pouty about getting shot down so he stayed on the kids couch for seven hours. Not sure how true it is.

ok, so there may be verifiable truth that the man can show emotion???

that was always my beef with Ty, never felt he really cared either way.

Also loved those nuggets of wisdom.."it is better to be ranked than not ranked"

That ecstasy will cause him to have to take ssri's the rest of his life. I called out a mom with twins back in the Cincinnati area. I told her that her daughters were using it. She got mad and quit coming to see me. She called me 5 years later and apologized because I was right and now she wanted to know what to do to help them.
