Who might be worse?

2-12 under Hazell. Average loss is by 25. Only wins over FCS Indiana St and 1-11 last year W Michigan, who had almost 100 more yards.

Lost by 21 to a MAC team. At home.

Is any BCS team worse?

And before the "they always play ND close" talk starts, no they don't.

I'll say app st. They are FBS now, right?

I wonder if Purdue is in the Same boat that ND was with the TY situation? Anyways, It seems clear to me that Purdue has progressively gotten worse under Hazel's watch.

FBS, yes, but not BCS. By BCS, I mean Big10, Big 12, Pac12, SEC and ACC.

I can't think of a worse team from one of those conferences.

I was going to say that I couldn't honestly say that they are the worst....because the bottom dwellers of the BCS conferences are usually pretty bad, and the B1G conference alone usually has some pretty terribad teams, but I looked at the conferences and honestly can't find I a BCS team that I think Purdue "should" beat.

Don't forget....

Colorado is pretty bad...but yeah. I think Purdue might be the worst

You are correct. Apparently, reading comprehension isnt my thing. That, and I'm on my fourth 12 hour shift consecutively. Yeah, it's Purdue.

Some of these weak conferences are worse than you think. I'm of the opinion that Purdue would beat UNLV by two touchdowns.

Every year Purdue plays ND tough. We should probably respect them a little more for being consistently challenging. These threads start up every year before the "feeble" Purdue game and I'm a little surprised we continue to forget. Even without Kerrigan and company, they play ND with passion. Every opponent should be taken seriously.

I expect a slight letdown after the emotion of the Michigan game. I expect Purdue to fight like hell because they do when whey play ND.

And ND should still win by 3 touchdowns. If there is no letdown, ND should win 49-7.

But seriously...why as fans do we need to have this mantra of take everyone seriously? Seems silly. Purdue blows. We're good. We will beat them by 40. What difference does it make if we take them serious?

BCS teams! Focus, people!

Kansas is in Big12 which had ties to BCS games, so they're technically a BCS team.

I would say Purdue, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado.

No, not every year.

2010 ND raced to a 20-3 lead in Kelly's first game. Purdue scored late to make te score closer than it was.

2011 was a ND blowout.

2012 was Golsons second game so there were some offensive struggles.

2013 ND started slow after the Mich game and trailed 10-0. Then went on a 31-7 run in a quarter and a half.

This first three Purdue teams were at least decent and won 4-6 games. Last year Tommy led the offense.

This is Kelly's best offense. This is Purdue's worst team in years. Maybe they seem to play ND close because ND wasn't all that great and they were decent?

Rivalry or not, ND is 35 points better than Purdue. If their coach can take their two 4* players and make a game if it with ND and their uber-talent, Kelly is really doing something wrong.

I don't follow them but Hazel has only been there 1+ seasons. Looking at 247, His recruiting for 2015 seems to be a little better than 2014 and 2013 so I am not sure if same situation as Ty.

Ty's (or his asst coaches) development of players seemed to be decent, it was recruiting that was his huge negative.

Hazel seems to be OK at recruiting but either development or play calling (or both) must be an issue.

Justify these two scoreboard snap shots in the fourth quarter against bottom level MAC schools for the job Hazel is doing.

1-11 Western Michigan

6-6 Central Michigan

Talent disparity for a B1G school or not...giving up 6yards per play against MAC schools is pathetic

Plus, I never understood the "they play ND harder" stuff. Do you think those kids enjoyed getting humiliated by a MAC team on their home field? In front if all the students? Isn't that enough motivation?

Or maybe Notre Dame has fielded some positively mediocre teams and QBs on the field the last 20 years....

I didn't see Purdue playing that hard against Brady Quinn in 2005-2006

How about this: just don't let them THINK they can hang. Drop 17 on them in the first quarter and they're demoralized. What's the biggest *comeback* win Purdue has ever orchestrated against us? Most times that they've won its because we let the game linger.

I don't think Purdue plays ND tougher. I know they play ND tougher as evidenced by the last decade of ND having trouble with them. True, there have been some blowouts, but it's also true that there have been times where ND's had to rely on Clausen's arm and Rudolf's catching. It's not simple a blanket statement to say the Purdue has played ND tough. Coach Kelly even admitted this in his last presser.

Not sure what the motivation is to get up for ND yet suck it up against the MAC, possibly home state familiarity? But that doesn't change the fact that Purdue shouldn't be taken lightly.

On paper, my first attended ND game should have been a wash, but unranked Boston College ended up spoiling ND's certain national championship game appearance. Maybe they should have taken them more seriously?

That's all I'm saying. Every opponent should be taken seriously...

We've beaten then 8 out of the last 9 games.

And why should we, as fans, take them seriously? We aren't playing. Why should WE take them seriously? The program is a joke and if this was English Soccer, they would be relegated to a lesser league.

And the BC analogy? That BC team was coached by Tom Coughlin. They ended ranked #13 and lost a heartbreaker the week after us to #3 West Virginia.

Oh and that 2009 Notre Dame team was horrible and lead to Charlie getting fired.
