It just feels like this could be another special year.

Admittedly it's only two games.

But you have to like what you're seeing out of Golson.

BVG's defense looks like it may be better than expected.

Stanford lost and looked very beatable.

USC looked beatable too.

There's a realistic chance ND could roll into Tallahassee undefeated.

So, anyone ready to nudge their predicted win totals up yet?

I'll stay with the relatively safe 10-2 prediction still, but like I said when I made the prediction, this team has a chance of being very special. 11-1 or 12-0 would not surprise me.

I think Florida State looks beatable.

If we get DD and K-Russ back, I definitely think we can beat them.

I definitely want to upgrade my prediction of 8-4.....BUT they still have a pretty daunting task ahead of them.....

Stanford still looked pretty good and they will most likely not be inside the redzone 6 times and only come out with 10 points again.

USC looks pretty fast and Agholor is a playmaker

ASU can score

FSU is still the defending champion

Louisville is incredibly athletic....seriously, this team is going to be tough to beat.

UNC is struggling but still has some speed

I am not saying it can't be done, and I am A LOT more optimistic now than I was at the beginning of the year, but there's still a lot of work to be done.

Now if they announce that DD and KVR are back, let me check in again because the offense could still use a reliable receiver with good hands and any D can use a lock down corner.

Either way, the future looks good for this team.

I can, I said 8-4 without those players and 10-2 with them but I definitely think we can win 10 even without them and if we get them back we can push 11 and a playoff birth

Once Robinson is healed from his thumb injury, that will only help as well. He should be the starter opposite of Fuller.

still lots of loseable games left.

enjoy the win. long way to go.

Agreed. Without 5 scholarship players, the team has responded and is getting the job done and others are stepping up to the plate in their absence. Indeed, enjoy the win and ponder the possibilities but let's not get giddy yet. It's only 2 games.

I said 10-2 or better and I fell confident in the "or better".

I like our coaching staff and their confidence shows. Two TOs in the first series and it didn`t phase Kelly.

We have some very good players that always show up in key situations.

Golson is very accurate and the best QB in college.

I need to see another performance like that before id change anything. Last night kind of reminded me of when we stomped Miami. Consistency has been a major issue under BK, so if we can thrash Purdue next week, I'm on board that things are looking up. If the score next week is like 20-17, I'm still skeptical. Purdue is terrible.

So glad the series ended on that note, though. Loving it.

My pre-season prediction was "10-2 but hoping for more".

I would revise it at this point to "10-2 and cautiously optimistic for more". lol.

Rest easy echo,,, I know exactly how you feel. We've been in the desert for soooo long. We've seen the mirage's, we've had the let downs time and time again. BK has shown to put away the teams we're expecting to put away. He has proven to put the heel on the throat when needed. We are definitely back for the foreseeable future. Enjoy it!

I think a major difference between this year's team and those of the past four years is that, in my opinion, Diaco's bend-but-don't-break defenses forced ND to play to the level of the opponent, while BVG's defense forces opponents to play up to ND's level.

Undefeated wouldn't surprise me but I'll say 9-10 wins.

Admittedly, I'm a glass half empty kind of person. I'd be great working in a factory where the goal is to find defects in the product line.

ND has done some good things on offense and I'm glad about that. Still concerned about how we open games and basically throw away our first offensive possessions, however.

Concerned about not taking advantage of TO's. Besides the last TO did we get any points off of the other 3 TO's?

Not saying it's doom and gloom, I think we'll have a great season, just some things to work on still.

Very happy with the defensive play obviously.

Was concerned about the run game but I don't pretend to be a coach and some have debated in another thread about stacking the box is the reason for poor run game. I will defer to their judgement. I never fully see things accurately the first time I watch the game.

I'm with you. I wanna see a thrashing of both Purdue and Syra and then I'm gonna at least pour myself a glass of the kool-aid, if not quite drink it...

I went 10-2, and now I'm banking on them going 11-1. Think we can get the playoff spot with one good loss and heck with the 5 we might even be able to run the table but it's hard not to slip up with this type of schedule.

11-1, I feel more confident in that with atleast 3 of 5 back.

Still too early for me.

Michigan feels an awful lot like the Weis era to me circa 2008.

Yes, Michigan is dreadful.

But so is Purdue, Syracuse, Navy, UNC, Northwestern.

Stanford looked beatable. FSU has looked beatable. USC is beatable. I only see about 4 teams in the same league as ND. Getting two of those gets you to 10-2.

I think I'm at 11-1(predicting a win over FSU) so I'll leave it be. I'll let you know after Stanford.

:)

WeaverIrish where ya at buddy?
