I have concerns. Like to hear the more positive people's views.

Did it seem at all like there was a lack of open receivers, despite some of the bigger gains and 300 yards passing (I might need to go watch the game again)?

And does it seem that our offense still labors to get the points they do? I mean I'm watching the OU v. Louisiana Tech game and maybe LT is not as good as Rice, but OU just makes it look like it's so easy. They look faster. I just use this game as an example but I've seen it in some other games too.

IF and i mean IF Russell can get back on the field for this game, would they consider moving Riggs to safety to quarterback that backfield which seems to be in utter disarray??

Kelly already shot this down at his presser.

Having KR back is huge even if Riggs is not moved to safety. It allows BVG to move Riggs around in 3CB sets, which was the plan before the suspensions.

Also having shutdown corners who can play man is critical to the attacking style BVG would like to play. KR can literally shutdown a teams best WR most weeks. He is by far the most important player to get back quickly if we can.

When has KR shut down a talented WR?

They played a (6-6) Rutgers team. Were there any good players on that team?

Brandon Coleman. Look him up.

Are you saying that all mediocre or bad teams don't have good players?

Erick, you do realize you the only person who does not think KR is elite. Even the NFL mock boards are high on him. Time to admit defeat.

He didn't have one interception last season against a QB... not one. Good... sure. Elite... hardly.

This talk reminds me of Armando Allen back in the day how everyone talked how he was a top back and all when people need to open their eyes that just because you are the best at ND, doesn't make you elite.

Did you not read a word he just wrote? He didn't say just ND fans are talking about him. NFL draft experts and scouts love him too. I know Kiper had him ranked highly preseason. Many mock drafts have him going 1st-2nd round. He was barely thrown at last year. The guy is an elite college football corner. I am not going to speculate on how his NFL career will go, but as for college corners, you don't get much better.

I'll go in between and call him "excellent". Would you really rather be without him? I bet not.

Your interception stat is noted, but perhaps there's a reason. Does he focus on breaking up passes? Does he wrap and take down receivers to avoid a big play after catch? Does he hit hard to create drops? Like someone else mentioned, do opposing offenses avoid throwing his way? Is his coverage good enough that QBs check down out of his assigned man? These are the hidden traits that don't show up as stats.

Here's what I know: with a ton of talented receivers on our schedule this year, we need KR on the field...elite or not.

a good corner might not have lots of INTs.

if you are great you actually defend less passes because people are afraid of you.

Kiper has Russell as his 5th best corner.

CBS rates him 9th.

Scout rates him 9th.

None cite a lack of interceptions as a concern.

Maybe not LOTS... but how about one. Just one. And usually people throw away from you when you have proven to burn a team. Its like a pitcher pitching away from a batter that has not hit a home run. KR has never burned a team for testing him.

Mel Kiper rated Andre Hal as his 8th best corner and he was in Mel's top 100 players in the 2014 draft. Andre Hal was drafted in the 7th round and people are talking about KR being drafted in the first round. Andre Hal had 4 picks last season in the SEC.

Preseason draft rankings are just as pointless as preseason rankings. I want to KR come back and play well. Then let's talk about dominance and draft status.
