Not sure who it is but the investigation is concluded and they are holding another (unknown) player out of competition. Per Sportsbeat 960 just now. They said the investigation is done though but no other info than that.

Not sure who Pregame graduated with .... but that is not true for those I know.

Did ND always used to be so hoity-toity? My recollection as a child was it being a blue collar sort if school, where anyone who worked hard was allowed.

Did that change or do I have a bad memory?

Blame the internet. Everything gets blown up 10 times more than it used to.

They let me in Cory and I'm a bit of a slacker---well I was a bit of a slacker as a youth,-- now I'm a full blown slacker--;).

Yes its harder and more demanding now Cory--every freakin thing from getting into a good university to getting a decent airplane seat has been boosted by social steroids as the competition in most every part of American life has gotten ferocious.

I don't recall it ever being a matter of hard work and the entrance requirements have always been more strict than, say, a typical B1G school. I recall getting a 1260 SAT (old system) and would have been borderline. I'd have needed a very good essay response if I wanted to attend ND. It was a moot point since my parents nor I could afford it.

I think the major gap is the standards ND uses for athletes. I was recently told by a casual observer that Clowney got into SC with a 1.5 GPA. Unless it was one of the few exceptions Lou was able to get, I don't think ND has ever swam in those waters. I could be wrong, but just my perspective.

Something like this?

In a 1962 edition of Scientific American, the ecologist John B Calhoun presented the results of a macabre series of experiments conducted at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).1 He had placed several rats in a laboratory in a converted barn where – protected from disease and predation and supplied with food, water and bedding – they bred rapidly. The one thing they were lacking was space, a fact that became increasingly problematic as what he liked to describe as his β€œrat city” and β€œrodent utopia” teemed with animals. Unwanted social contact occurred with increasing frequency, leading to increased stress and aggression. Following the work of the physiologist, Hans Selye, it seemed that the adrenal system offered the standard binary solution: fight or flight.2 But in the sealed enclosure, flight was impossible. Violence quickly spiralled out of control. Cannibalism and infanticide followed. Males became hypersexual, pansexual and, an increasing proportion, homosexual. Calhoun called this vortex β€œa behavioural sink”. Their numbers fell into terminal decline and the population tailed off to extinction. At the experiments’ end, the only animals still alive had survived at an immense psychological cost: asexual and utterly withdrawn, they clustered in a vacant huddled mass. Even when reintroduced to normal rodent communities, these β€œsocially autistic” animals remained isolated until death. In the words of one of Calhoun’s collaborators, rodent β€œutopia” had descended into β€œhell”.3
