For me it would have to be without a doubt that CW playcall where he told the defense to allow Stanford to score. I know we ultimately lost the game but it was kind of funny to see the RB fail to stay out of the endzone. It really was a brilliant/ballsy call in my opinion despite not converting on offense. That fake punt then throw to an "exiting" Shark was a close second.

What call would it be for you?

Probably cliche but also a CW call, pass right. Charlie may have had his faults but that one play summed up who he really is as a man, IMO.

Instead of kicking the FG against Tulsa, having Ol' Noodle-arm throw endzone........

Any play where he threw was ballsie.

The bomb to end the game against FSU in 2011?

probably not the ballsiest call but 4th and goal on the 5 yardline down 7 with 3:00 minutes left and deciding to run the option with ron powlus.

this times 1000000000

Jesse, I agree this was a fantastic set of plays, but is there a story behind it that makes it "ballsy"? If there is, I'd love to hear the background!

I'd vote for the 2 point conversion against Penn State in the Snow Bowl of '92.

Edit: I may have to rescind, since Lou had no choice but to go for two in order to tie. Like Rockets returns, it was a great play but can't be categorized as ballsy. I'll think some more on this.

This. And to the corner of the end zone no less...

Sentimental fave is "Pass Right."

I would have to say that the ballsiest play call (that actually worked) would be going for it on 4th and 1 on your own 29 during the 2005 USC game

The ballsiest play call (that didn't work) would be calling a fake punt on your own 15 during the 2007 Sugar Bowl

God I loved watching Denson play...

Why would the end ever suck in on Paulus? It's like prepping for Tommy to run the option. Who cares if he keeps it. Anyways, I'll have to ponder my ballsiest play.

not sure pass right is ballsy since it was so early in the game.

I seem to remember some ballsy 4th down calls (maybe a 2 pt as well) against Purdue in 08 or 09.

the playcalling against Tulsa that led to the int was just a bad call, nothing ballsy about it imo.

That's actually what happened during the USC game in 2010

You can see the Ends going after Tommy before he pitches it to Robert Hughes

LOL. Bo got a lesson in probability that day.

Just because you flip a coin 5 times in a row on it's head, it has no affect on the probability of the next flip.

He thought because Rocket ran one back that day, that it'd be a good idea to kick it to him again basically saying "It couldn't happen again, right?", LOLOL.

I'm gonna say not taking the chip shot FG against Dick Rod's Michigan team(in first half) and consequently losing by 4 because we had to go for the endzone at the end of the game... Would have given us a chance to kick a 45 yd game winner..

That one really irks me.. More than the Tulsa debauchery.

Living with a beautiful but ditzy girl in 1996...I had a rare but unmissable Saturday class so I taped the game. Before I left the apartment, I said "Don't touch the vcr and don't tell me the score when I get home..."

I come home after class, open the door and yell "Don't tell me the score!!!" She replies "I won't but Notre Dame won in dramatic fashion!"

Did she have dinner ready at least?

LOL... we lived right beside the best souvlaki place in all of Quebec...Saturdays were take out. Hell, who am I kidding, every night was pretty much takeout in university...
