I am coming to South Bend for the second time and I am just wondering what places are "must eat" places while staying in the area from Thursday-Sunday. I am looking for places in the area, or even on campus. Much appreciated. Go Irish!

The South Dining Hall after the game

I was thinking about doing the South Dining Hall at some point. Good food? Wouldn't it be packed after the game??

Between the Buns is one of our favorites!

Where is this located in South Bend? We wanted to check out the places on Eddy Street as well. Seems pretty cool.

Between the Buns is just behind campus, off SR 23. Very easy to get to, good bar-style food, good atmosphere. If you like Italian or just pizza in general, Rocco's is a fan favorite as well. Have fun in the Bend!

Might want to avoid this place....

Check out Fiddler's Hearth downtown if you get a chance. It is my wife's and my favorite place in South Bend. It has a good beer selection and has just a great warm vibe, especially Friday nights before a game Saturdays after a win. Also a good place to eat and drink away your sorrows after a loss....

Go back in time to the early 1990s and eat at the Wendy's Superbar.... enjoy not only the salad, but Mexican food and pasta!

Rib Tips? Pitt's BBQ! Mishawaka Avenue across from John Adams High School. Award winning, inexpensive and better than Frankie's!

Sushi? Matuba! On McKinley Ave. just north of Park Jefferson Apartments. Have time though, he hand makes them to order and he takes his time but worth it. I waited 45 minutes last time.

Chinese? Hi Ho! Specifically for their Mongolian Beef! Doesn't taste like anyone elses and ask for spicy. Very good egg drop soup comes with it. Even for the dinner ASK for the lunch portion, much cheaper and just as much food. You just miss the fancy serving plate. For an appetizer, get the pot stickers and douse them in the red vinegar they have. Mmmmm!

Flat Top Grill is pretty good, it's in the University Park Mall. You make your own plate and they cook it for you.

Barnaby's Pizza on the corner of Grape Rd. and Edison Rd is my favorite pizza

Nick's Patio close to campus has some good breakfast food.

Just some of my faves

What about Doughnuts? :behindsofa:

I see what you did there,,, hardy-har-har! ;)

But seriously,,, You cannot beat West End Bakery on 8th Street in Mishawaka! It's an area institution! :first:

Pitt's BBQ is so mother-effing good. This area has had a bit of a BBQ Renaissance lately between Pitts, more Frankies locations, World Famous, and Prized Pig (Niles), not to mention Wheatberry in Buchanan. Pitts blows the rest away in my opinion and the owner is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. I'd give three thumbs up if I had them :)

What about Doughnuts? :behindsofa:

LMAO. Well played sir.

(Love that sofa!)

And Speedy, you are a good sport my friend.

It wasn't on our list of places to eat at. Thanks hahaha

Hacienda isn't too bad a TexMex type place...

I've heard many good things about Corndance, but haven't been there yet...

Fiddler's Hearth is pretty good as stated above.

Like Speedster, Barnaby's is one of my favorite pizzas.

http://barnabyspizzamishawaka.com/ (I don't know where they got those stock photo's, but that's nothing like the pizza or atmosphere)

I also really like Bruno's as well.

We are staying an a Super 8 about 10 minutes from campus, so anything between there would be great. I will be coming with my Dad so I don't want to go to any of the usual bar places I would go with my dad, where people are throwing up and all that jazz.

We ate at Legends for Dinner last year, went to the Kickoff Luncheon that Friday for Lunch, and just ate at the Basketball game that Friday night. Of course we had those steak sandwiches Saturday before the game.

We want to try a few new places. We were thinking eating at the South Dining Hall this time? When is the best time to eat there? It looks like Hogwarts!!

We were thinking about Brothers Bar & Grill, McAlister’s Deli, or O’Rourke’s Public House at the Eddy Street Commons this time. Good idea?

Other places that I had in mind was Fiddler's Hearth Public House, Rocco's, Between The Buns, and Corby's (Filmed in Rudy?).

Any suggestions would be great!!
