Let's take a serious look at the 4 players we will lose.

1. Kendall Moore ~~ Special teams player. We will put a faster and more hungry freshman in his place. One that has a much quicker change of direction. No loss here. If we play Stanford and need a bigger backer we now have Councell and Deeb. Nothing to overcome here.

2. KeiVarae Russell ~~ Not going to say this doesn't hurt a bit. But not as much as you think!!! Cody Riggs is a Godsend!! Man can he cover. Cole Luke just keeps getting better and better and so does Butler. Suddenly, lo and behold, Josh Atkinson is covering like at no time in his life. We will be fine at corner despite what ESPN says. What do they know. Do they study practice reports like we do. No.

3. Ishaq Williams ~~ perennial non performer. Yeah, even I was going to predict 8/9 sacks. But I say put Jhonny Williams in there. He is a phenomenal prospect. Looks like he was shot out of a canon in his high school tapes. Bodes well for the future. Not much drop here.

4. DeVaris Daniels ~~ No wonder Chris Brown has exploded. He's our number one guy. Corey Robinson will be a beast. We have a multitude of receivers with 4 star talent. Give me a break. This unit will thrive. Just means more playing time for Corey and the boys. BlackIrish will be ecstatic with the extra reps Will Fuller gets.

So guys, I don't believe this will cost a single game this year and it will even further make us the best team in the country next year. You can count on OklahomaIrish to put the proper spin on this story.

Totally agree on everything, Williams is weak at the point of attack and will hurt us in the run game. Daniels was lazy and will be replaced by more talented guys. Moore is no loss, Russell stings but we have from top to bottom- Riggs, Luke, Butler, Atkinson, Brown, and Watkins. Shumate can even play some nickel so we are by far fine.

Just a little bump in the road, I think this is the end for Moore and Williams' college careers. Daniels won't be welcome back but if Russell comes back him and Luke will wreak havoc next season.

Thank God for Cody Riggs.

I'm more worried about the long term implications of this on recruiting, program cleanliness, integrity, and overall image. That have been shaken since the 2012 USC victory. Let's just hope this is the bottom of the bottom. On the field, they should be ok but this does hurt. I'm most concerned about defensive end. Dline is pretty thin now. I'm also concerned about this hanging over the program for a long time now, as it sounds like there's going to be a long term NCAA investigation. Not happy about this at all and just feel like all ND Nation has at this point is unanswered questions for awhile.

Yeah screw them, we didn't want them anyway! Come on man...

The offense won't miss a beat. I completely agree with that.

The defense will lose the most here. Russell is a tremendous talent, and was possibly our best player overall. But I agree, we have depth at that position. But I wouldn't be surprised if Russell is a big loss either. Hopefully, he comes back as a senior.

I think this could cost a game, but I agree that it will be beneficial for the future. These freshman will get valuable experience and be great sophomores.

Put me on the "still optimistic bandwagon".

I wish I could agree. I don't.

Well really look at it, we have depth at every position where we lost a guy. I think we can all agree Moore is no big loss as we haven't heard his name once. Daniels quits on balls all the time and the buzz was more about Brown, Fuller, and Robinson plus the depth at slot.

You can argue Okwara has been more productive in his limited playing time than Williams, plus we have about three deep at every d-line position. I don't care how young they are, they're big, they're strong and when we need them to give the starters a breather they'll do just fine.

Russell hurts because he was the leader and our best d player arguably but it's not like losing Jaylon Smith. You lose him you have Greer Martini playing, Luke looked unreal for a freshman and at times looked better than Jackson I think. We know Butler can play and we got about 4 other guys who can play there if need be.

They hurt a bit but not as much as people here think, one thing Kelly has done is build depth and we can still win every game on our schedule.

I think Russell is the only one that might hurt, but I'm skeptical about that too. It's a new scheme this year, which relies on man coverage for corners. Didn't we run zone mostly during his first 2 years? It's tough to say he's a big loss if we haven't seen the new scheme. Wasn't Bennett Jackson supposed to be a shutdown last year?

Ultimately, I hope nothing comes of this. Mostly because this could really hurt 4 young men for life. What a shame.

Russell hurts, potential 1st round NFL guys hurt. Ishaq hurts due to depth. The other 2 can be filled well and smoothly.

Who was a first rounder? We have depth at CB and Ishaq was trying to prove that Crist was a bigger 5 star bust. My predictions about the season stay the same.

Agreed. You won't see me complaining about the guys we lost besides Russell which happens to be our best depth position. If this hurts anything, it will be possible recruiting due to negative media and coaches using this against them. Seems like the players are rallying around and pumped to show this won't phase them. All in all, the media will make this a bigger deal than it is, like always. Only thing I'm worried about.

Russell has 1st round potential in time IMO, not saying he is there yet as this year is/was key. I think Ishaq can be covered but it will hurt against Stanford and teams like that. Also having Ishaq to start the year would be nice to get younger guys experience slowly.

Russell is a huge blow. No other way to slice it. Losing a shutdown No.1 corner is the defense Van Gorder runs is devastating to our chances of doing anything special this year.

Kelly's tenure has been riddled with bad offseason s since he started.

???

Dude. List off the ND first rounders and that list will pretty much be exclusive to ND greats. He got one INT last season... Against Rutgers. He was no first rounder. Sorry.

Ishaq was not that good either. Every season fans would bring up how many stars he had and not what he has done in college.

As I mentioned in the very beginning before names came out. As long as its not Elmer, Stanley, Golson, Folson, J Smith, Day, Jones, and Martin, we are fine.

KVR also shut players down, they didn't throw at him as much. Still only time could tell, he was our best CB.

I think the move to 4-3 may have helped Ishaq but I agree with you .

Yeah, Russell is a solid CB, one int is not indicative of his skill level. I think it is universally accepted that he is good, maybe first round maybe not, now we won't know.

Season

Awe man, it's all of the rails now.

KeiVarae is ranked as the #5 junior cornerback in college football by draft stock.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2016/CB

Definitely has potential to be a first-round pick and was easily one of our top 3 players on the team, and I would rank him #1. This hurts a lot.

Davaris was a starting receiver. We can say it won't be a downgrade going to Robinson/Fuller/whoever, but if they were better, they would have been starting. They weren't- it's a downgrade- we won't be as good.

Ishaq hurts because we are extremely shallow in the defensive line. We're already expecting to see multiple freshman play- Springmann's career is over- we absolutely needed the bodies.

Moore is meh.

I was going to start a thread saying the exact opposite. Separate from the tangible assets we are losing is the looming distraction of future discipline, lost schollies, bowl bans, tension from coaching staff trickling down after dealing with tons of negative recruiting. Just my 2 cents.

I think Okwara takes Ishaq's place and we back him up with Jhonny Williams. Those that sweat KieVarae please take a look at the vids on Coody Riggs. He is a serious stink on schitt corner. Gets his hands on the ball consistently.

Good try Okie, but this definitely hurts.

Kieva is a star and will be sorely missed. He would have been a shut down corner and you really can't replace that.

Williams would have had his best year yet and ND's Dline is already a huge ?

Daniels and Golson had chemistry and would have been a good combination for a lot of yards.

Moore obviously the least.

Like I told my boys though, you rally around it...become better because of it...

This is absolutely shameful. I wouldn't root for these Sobs again they are disgraceful P O S....thanks you selfish SOB'S
