the crime isnt about harm to anyone but yourself.

the crime is drunk driving. it is not handed out on whether or not you hurt anyone before the cops catch you.

you said i couldnt argue the point myself and rocket were making BECAUSE floyd didnt hurt anyone. but whether or not he hurt anyone ISNT the point when it comes to drunk driving.

If I ever ran across you in public. I would sucker hug you. You deserve it.

And do you think if he had killed someone anyone on this board would have wanted him on the team?

I would think not.

I wonder how much stuff went on and nothing was done back in the pre- internet days and ESPN actually showed sports instead of talking heads?

I would think not.

That was directed at PT, not you Nick.

Nickman54 pretty crazy story man. I had a similar thing happen to me as well. My grandpa and I were all grabbing some bosco sticks at the local Kum & Go after pounding most of brews in Johnson County that night. Some clown comes up to my grandpa jabber jawing about how there's no way my grandpa drank a whole case of bud light that night. My grandpa being the whitty man he was came back with some hella nice zingers and the dude got pissed and sucker punched old gramps. Little did he know my grandpa was the regional boxing champion from 1965 to 1970. Boy did that guy receive the beatdown of a lifetime. I had to pull gramps off of him just so we had enough time to get away before the cops showed up. Found out later the dude needed 34 stiches and plastic surgery to fix his eye socket. The moral of the story is anybody can make up a terrible story and post it on the internet, also if something outrageous like that really happens to you, you probably shouldn't talk about it on the internet

Classic. How do you talk your way out of getting your butt kicked my a senior citizen? No coming back from that.

The point is that a trained athlete, intentionally assaulted a defenseless person ( hands in pocket) and that blow could have killed him.

How bad was he trying to hurt him? Was he trying to Kill him. After all, he waited till the victim was looking the other way before he hit him.

This is a criminal act and should be punished.

Dude broke his jaw, was on breathing tubes and had to have jaw wired shut.

I think we can all agree that what he did was terrible and he should be punished in some form. Best case scenario the victim recovers and creates a parody of Kanye West's "Through the Wire." Absolutely best case scenario Notre Dame gets him to perform his "Through the Wire" parody at halftime of the ND-Michigan game

sorry, don't really have much interest in UM "student athletes" and their violent trends as of late.

my only question, did the WR actually say he dropped the other guy out of fear? Much easier ways of exiting that situation, especially if the other guy has hands in his pockets and is facing the other way.

no I agree, I thought I read where the WR said he was scared, like dropping the other guy was preemptive.

Here is the article attached to the video.

Ann Arbor police Tuesday released a video that they say shows suspended University of Michigan wide receiver Csont'e York punching a 23-year-old man outside of a downtown bar last month.

The victim appears to have not known the punch was coming. It knocked out a tooth and broke his jaw in three places, requiring it to be wired shut and necessitating the temporary use of a breathing tube, according to the police report, which was obtained along with the video via a Freedom of Information Act request.

The video shows a crowd of people outside Scorekeepers Bar and Grille, 310 Maynard St., around 2:15 a.m. on July 18. The Ann Arbor Art Fair was going on at the time, and tents are visible in the street next to the sidewalk.

York, 20, who is wearing a fishing cap in the video, and his teammate Da'Mario Jones, 19, apparently got into a confrontation with the victim and his friend because York believed the victim bumped into him.

There was also some sort of argument about hockey and football, according to the report.

A witness described for police what happened after he and the victim left Scorekeepers.

“A group of people were arguing about football and hockey. Everyone was talking … crap. ... (The victim) was jaw-jacking. All (of a) sudden, the guy just came up and cold clocked (the victim).”

One witness said he thought York hit the victim because he is white, according to the report, but York and Jones told police it was because the men bumped into them.

York and Jones fled the scene on foot, but Ann Arbor police officers took them into custody around 5:47 a.m. that same day.

When interviewed by police, York said he had “very little” to drink and that after the left the bar, he and his group of friends stood around outside talking to people.

“A group of dudes walked by and bumped me,” he told police. “He was (so) close to me that he elbowed me as he walked by.”

During the altercation, York said one of the men “walked up on” his teammate, according to the report.

He pressed up on him face to face exchanging words for no reason,” York told police. “I got (nervous) and scared about the situation so I hit the guy. I punched him.”

Jones told police he thought the group of men were on the U-M hockey team, according to the report. There is no indication that the victim is on the hockey team.

Police later identified a different man who had been on the U-M hockey team and now plays in the NHL as being involved in the initial encounter.

Jones said the victim walked up and taunted him before York punched him.

Jones told police that as the victim leaned in, which is visible in the video, he said, "You think you're really tough; you guys are some (expletive)."

A breath test revealed York had a blood alcohol content of .057, which is below the legal limit to drive for someone over 21.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke announced earlier this month that York had been suspended indefinitely and did not report to the team when it opened fall camp this week.

The reason Hoke gave for the suspension was a failure "to meet team standards."

“Csont’e York is suspended indefinitely for failing to meet team standards and will not report for fall camp," Hoke wrote in a statement at the time. "We demand that every person in our program represent the University of Michigan and the Michigan football program the right way on and off the field. When people fall short of that, there are consequences.”

York will be charged Aug. 22 in Ann Arbor's 15th District Court with a count of aggravated assault and two counts of assault and battery.

Jones was not charged in the assault.

That poor guy was like 2 feet away from him, no where near York's face. York just sizes him up and sucker punches him with his full weight behind the punch.
