isn't that where he expected to go when he was first drafted?

I remember him having a surprised look on his face when Miami drafted Ted Ginn Jr.

He was expected to be taken by the Dolphins but they chose Ted Ginn instead. Hope he gets a shot, he is a good guy.

Get paid close to a million to stand on the sidelines, not take hits, and hold a clipboard? Sounds like an easy choice

Bigger disappointment professionally... Brady Quinn or Jimmy Clausen?

Jimmy is only 26 and is just now getting a chance to show his skills on a decent team.

He had 10 starts in Carolina and in those 10 starts he threw 3 TDs and 9 INTs. Yes he's been injured but I can't imagine battling for a backup job is where he thought he'd be at this point in his career.

To be fair... the starters on that Panthers team? Comparable to the Bears second string this year.

Not just that, he played behind the world's worst offensive line. Cam succeeded because of his mobility. Jimmy was not a mobile QB at all, running away behind a crumbling O-line and trying to throw the ball is nothing he ever claimed would be an ideal situation. He admitted in college he was not a very mobile QB.

But to your point, I wonder what would have happened had he stayed his senior year.

Yes but this means he makes the team. Still a few weeks from final cuts.

I'm not saying Jimmy a terrible quarterback. He'll probably be a serviceable backup in Chicago and if Cutler gets hurt who knows what could happen. My only argument is that his career has been a disappointment thus far. Less disappointing than Brady Quinn's career but still disappointing

Qb is the hardest position to project in the NFL. Sometimes you have to get lucky, ala TB. Sometimes you take the hard road, ala Kurt Warner. Its timing and luck and talent. Sometimes Gramps could kick someones A$$ and get you the spot too.

Haha well done nickman54. If Jimmy had my grandpa he'd be a starter for sure. Gramps would give ol' Trestman the what-for and Cutler would be lookin for a new job

Come on Rocketsan there have maybe been 3 gramps posts. Just a small joke between me and Nickman54. We're all Irish fans here and that makes us friends right?! No need to be a "Domer Downer"
