So just for discussion, a starter sees 65 plays a game?

What about two deep? How many plays does a two deep player see?

Or how many plays does a 3rd down specialist see?

I think 10 plays is the third down player. When BK is stating that the FR are coming in on 3rd downs, that's what he was talking about. It may not be starting, but that means that the FR is the best player you have for that situation.

That just amazes me. Out of the gate, we have that many FR that are the best we have. What happened????

In terms of starters on defense and number of plays, I'm thinking it's really 40 plays, and the two deep are around 20 plays, and the situational are around 10 plays. Maybe someone has that data.....

A little exaggeration from me yes, but you understood the overall point I was getting at. These guys are situational players coming in on third down for specific reasons(unless you've already read the bad news thread). But an interesting question you ask. How many snaps does each team receive 1st team, 2nd team, etc. I think you're probably right with your assessment. I'm not much of a semantics guy to look it up but 1st teamers should get 40 or so.

This is starting to feel like a Cubs fan environment. Next year, boys!

The Cubs had false hope for many years though. I don't think ND has false hope...even this year.

ugh. I don't want to be the cubs of college football.

Butch Jones is commentating on campus for ESPN... ffs.

Call me crazy but I still think the fact we might see Collingsworth and Farley all year at SS is worse than the losing those 4 players. I think all guys are replaceable even Russell because Luke and Riggs are that good.

The fact that Schumate can't beat either of them out is pretty damning. Farley was one of the bigger disappointments on last year's team and Collinsworth has never been impressive.

I sure do hope so! But I'm not as optimistic. But KR is that good. Hopefully he's cleared and he's back for us.

Schmidt will probably be the starting MLB. If it is Morgan, then he has come a long ways.

If Schmidt is not in the game, who calls the plays and makes sure that everyone is in the correct position? Not Morgan.

I am guessing that Jaylon Smith would be the one in charge on D then.
