I see Rochell being the next man in across the line. Scratch Springman. DB's look tough. Play 4-2-5 a lot with Luke. MLB tbd. Freshman DT's will make it into 2 deep sooner or later.

Thanks, Dude. So Rochell is versatile enough to replace ANY position on the line? If not, I'm kinda scared if Day goes down.

Is there a Next Man In for the LBs, or is it position-dependent -- cause I have the same fear if any of our starters get hurt.

NO concerns about that backfield...wow! When Luke and Shumate are considered your backups, you're in a beautiful situation. Edit: hey, you edited it!

The good news is, if the D is any good this year, it'd be great next year. Return at least 8 starters based on that chart.

The D is at the beginning of a possible great transition. What you see out of the gate is a long way from the finished product. The D will improve steadily for a couple of years and then hopefully maintain a high degree of play for a long time.

Look out for Jhonny Williams. Went from 230 to over 250. What bothers me is that some players lost two inches in height. Grant Blankenship and Jhonny Williams were supposed to be 6' 6''. I am especially disappointed in Blankenship because they said his height was legitimate and that he was over 6' 6''. Over all, very happy with the freshmen and especially Bonner. Loved his letter from the 8th grade.

We are thin at defensive tackle and inside linebacker. Let's hope it doesn't hurt us this year.

That is our Achilles Heel this year, no pun intended. Let's pray there are no injuries and we can snag some DTs and LBs to fill out this recruiting class.

I think we are literally thin at MLB. The guys are on the small side. I think they are good players. Add Deebs to the list. Need Grace to be healthy.

Morgan is going to be a very good player some day but beating out Schmidt in the opening game is very doubtful in my opinion.

Schmidt is good and still getting better. He knows the defenses and makes sure that everyone is in the right position. He is the leader on defense.

Plus, he is good.

This team is in serious need of adding some talent in the LB corps.

Jarron Jones and Cole Luke are two somewhat under the radar guys who will have great years IMO. I think Luke will be an All-American in the future. The kid has great cover skills. Jones is just a monster and still has decent agility.

Depth chart is still haunted by guys coming back from injuries---

HOUNSCHELL---what do we know about his health?

Councell----How is he doing compared to where he was before the injury?

Grace---still a have to see to believe there

Really doubt Kelly was whistling in the wind when talking about CAGE & MOKWAUH-----

Jones & DAY will need plenty of relief----Hounschell , still a question---Utopu is just unclear if he can find a role----

That leaves the THREE YOUNG 300 POUNDERS---HAYES/CAGE/MUKWAUH---

They are going to have to play roles---gonna be difficult against experienced OLINE guys---but have to do it!

The ND depth chart has Hayes no where near 300 lbs

If Grace comes back healthy, I think the LB position will be fine this year, if he is hampered for 6+ games, the LB depth will seem pretty thin.

Councell should be fine, Kelly makes it seem like Councell is already at 100% and has been for awhile.

I agree that it is a little scary behind Day, hopefully he can stay healthy for an entire season.

This is going to be a young defense, but it does have talent across the board for the starting spots. Some positions are a little thin. The good news, in my opinion, this year's defense may be the weakest for a couple years to come yet should still be pretty good.

August 3rd rivals depth chart doesn't really mean much----

I mean Larkin---

Utopu & Rabassa move up

Randolph as well

we will see... but I won't bet it means much right now.

We have tons of depth along the defensive line so that is no problem, I actually think it could arguably be a better unit than the defensive backs.

I agree on all the positions on the depth chart except the corner spot. I think Cole Luke is gonna start and Riggs might have to play nickel or safety. Or maybe put Riggs at safety and have Shumate play that Rover position Slaughter played at the end of 2011.

Austin Larkin - 2nd String LB

Don't pay too much attention to rivals. Looks like they just tacked the freshman on in no particular order to the end of the spring game depth chart and made a few tweaks.
