Young's starting. I'd look to see Carlson or Freeman attached to his right side for the majority of the time, if only to provide a security blanket. At the very least the back will stay in to chip except when he is the primary receiver. When the ball is on the left hash, we'll be running at least one tight end and likely 3 wide. When the ball is on the right hash expect two tight ends.

Mattes is the 3rd tackle and the 3rd guard. When Sully's out, Morton moves over and Mattes goes in at guard.

Olsen has made it onto the 2 deep.

West is listed as the 5th receiver.

Talley is starting, Frome is the 3rd DE.

Ryan and T. Smith are on the 2 deep. Ryan is particularly surprising. Even if both starters go down Frome and Brown will play, and Ryan will be used sparingly.

Lambert seems like the nickel, Walls and McNeil will probably see some time.

Gioa will be kicking field goals. Renkes is kicking off??? Burkhart likely won't see time.

I like that Toryan Smith made the two deep. He's definitely going to be a good linebacker, i cant wait to see him lay the wood on someone.

Here are a few things that surprised me:

* Turkovich is the back-up LT

* Reuland wasn't listed (does this mean he won't make the trip?)

* Burkhard isn't even kicking off

* Talley over Frome

* Ryan making the 2-deep

Frome is injured, he could be out for a week or two

As for Burkhart, I think they'll try Renkes for one or two kickoffs, and if it doesn't go well, on with Burkhart. After we score 10 times, then we can even use Carl Gioia for kickoff! :lol:

I'm surprised Burkhart didn't make KO team. From the recruiting buzz of him, most of us thought he'd be starting in Georgia.

Does anyone know if it's a leg strength issue, or a consistancy issue, or both?

ok now im really scared....if they didnt list Barry does that mean he wont dress for games?

I'm sure the depth chart will change often especially as we see guys step up in games and freshman work their way onto the field. Once TT proves himself at LB and Prince at RB I would expect to see Aldridge and Prince listed as DW's backups.

Nick I'm afraind it does mean he wont go or at least dress away.

According to NDFan3's list above I get 66 players and, and at least the old rule was only 65 can dress away. If I'm wrong correct me here

Dont be scared Nick :lol: , the list and DC are subject to change, it means other guys are stepping up, tough to see action at ND as a freshman unless a) there's thin talent or b) the somewhat rare occasion where a freshman is mentally and physically ready to go off the bat(yeah Munir, yeah Sam!). West has a heads up being an EE, no surprise that he's the 5th wr and on kr.....good to see Chase up there too, wonder where Bragg stands... Gallup's a gifted athlete so he might end up as Vagas sees, at DB. Either way he will see some quality time at ND in his career. Don't worry, even if he sits out the year he will have four left.

no!!!! but hes gotta play this year at the UM game!

SJ, I count 55 total. The gross count is 65, and 6 players are listed twice, Grimes and West are listed 3 times.

Not only does that solve the math, it leaves things open for some more freshmen (maybe even Gallup?).

thanks a ton mighty, now i have hope!!! :D :D

Thanks mightlymojo. I didn't check individual names. Yep slots still open then. Also he could dress for a home game as that's over the 65 limit

i thought the limit was 70.

i was probbly most surprised to see john ryan as the backup DE.

I'm pretty sure I read that CW will be taking other freshman receivers "on the bus" to Georgia. He didn't specify who though.

ok, thanks for the info 1qa, whered you read that? we should have a GIVE BARRY A CHANCE rally on campus next to CW's office

Ha ha, I'm sure he'd love that

im thinking of getting a pettiton going and sending it to ND athletic dept and asking CW if he can get one shot on the field

I'm sure the players who will help the team win the most will play. Don't get caught up playing favorites. That's what our last coach and explains why a current NFL star was stuck on the bench a few years ago.
