I don't think there is a thread dedicated to this kid, but in light of the recent news that he may have a interest in ND I figured we should start one. Right now this kid is probably right at the top of the must get list. 6'5" 315 lbs. and they say he moves like a linebacker  Anyone know when this kid is visiting?? Next to Barksdale, which other DT on our list do you guys think would be the best fit, Williams or Blackwell?

don't get ur hopes up to much NDFAN, this kids preference changes like the wind, vagas convinced me that OSU is his likely destination, while I used to think he was all but ours, I think a good year will keep us in it, but I think Ted Ginn Sr. has this kid under his wings and that means OSU

I refuse to give up on him. He will be irish!!! .....I hope...a lot....really.

Good point TD, but hey if he's interested now it's as good of time as any to devote a thread to him. So wait Ginn Sr. is his coach?

Is Ginn Sr coaching the Army AA game?

im not sure if he is coaching the AA game, he is not his coach but he is his "friend", barkesdale was going to go on the Ted Ginn Sr. Bus tour but then backed out but they are still in close contact

Barksdale needs the Charlie Weis cart tour.

or the Borker golf cart tour!

Aren't they the same thing.

Maybe Barksdale finally realized that he would have to compete with Andre Jones for PT. I think that with a good visit (which shouldn't be hard to pull off), a successful season, and our depth, this kid will stay interested long enough to sign with us on NSD.

Final junior season stats: 83 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, eight sacks, 10 fumble recoveries and two deflected passes

It could be more, depending on how far his team got into the playoffs. If they missed them, then it'd be 1.1 per game.

Marvin Austin's stats: 80 tackles including 12 for loss, eight sacks, and five forced fumbles

Barksdale's stats are slightly better and IMO I think he may turn out to be the more dominating DT at the college level. Sure Austin's quickness is nice but with the DEs and fast LBs we're brining in we could really use a huge body like Barksdale to take up space in the middle of our DL.

So does anybody have an idea when Barksdale decides? It sounds like it may not come until way late in the year, ala Sam Young. I'm guessing it will be a long time until we get final word from him because he has leverage. Everybody's going to have a spot for him (or find room if they don't)

I think he is enrolling early for school so I dont think it will be to much like Sam Young.

Barkesdale will be on an unofficial visit for the michigan game

good sign that he is coming

not sure if this means he will be taking 5 other officials or if we will get an official at another point

if he is planning to early enroll then im not sure how it will work

its good news one way or the other because he will be there with all the big boys for the michigan game

Let me be the 50th to state the painfully obvious....

The Michigan game is turning out the be HUUUUUUUUGE for ND recruiting. We really need to have the same game day atmosphere that was there at the USC game last year.

And we need to leave that game with a win under our belt.
