i know we all think that ND will beat GT but lets not underestimate GTs defense, specially their front seven. chan gailey is to his defense what CW is to the irish offense and lets not forget how ND played against a quality defense last year. michgan held ND to 244 total yards, tennessee held ND to 343 total yards and held ND to 21 points after three quarters (one of those TDs was zibby's PR), syracuse held ND to 17 points after three quarters (pluse ferrines Int. for a TD to open the second half) and did a real nice job of stuffing NDs offense in the first half and OSU held ND to only 348 total yards. my guess is that GT is going to blitz ND from all different angles to throw them off, if ND stuffs the blitz quinn will have a field day but if they can't look out. not to mention GT has the best college WR since randy moss.

I'm confused by the first part of this...Chan Gailey has always been an offensive coach.

The hallmark of last year's squad was a defense that ranked in the Top 25 in the nation in virtually every category, including 13th nationally versus the run.

This game will definitely be a challenge and should tell us a lot about our team. I'm not exactly sure who is in charge of the scheduling of these games but I all can think of is what the hell were they thinking when they scheduled GTech, PSU, Mich, and MSU for the first 4 games of the season?

Ha ha, are you serious?

Russ nice post. It was getting lonely with just IrishRick and I giving out storm warnings about Georgia Tech.

I have confidance in Coach Weis but all I can say about scoffers is the Pro Betters still have us listed just 7.5 favorites with 11 days and some hours left to go. Granted we did prove a couple of times they were wrong last year. But in the whole the house always wins.

oops, i ment to say GT defensive cord.

yes calvin johnson is the best WR since randy moss.

That's a bold statement russ...only time will tell, but hopefully he doesn't get the chance to put on a show against us.

Right you are SJ. There is a reason Las Vegas is still taking college bets. They always come out on top for the season as a whole. Tech will be ready for us and they will be a handful. I doubt that I will be walking out of Bobby Dodd wondering what happened to the boys though. We will be just as ready as they are. I don't think we will blow them out but there is little doubt in my mind that we will win.

I feel confident against GT even though I had a nightmare last night that ND started 0-1. Too much veteran leadership for a letdown, especially after the last outting. Good to be cautious, not scared. I'm w/ you Fan3, VERY bold statement in regards to Johnson....I'd take Shark anyday..for that matter I'd take Charlie Rogers or Mike Williams, even Jarret over Johnson.

i'd take calvin johnson over the shark or anyone any day of the week. the has amazing abiliy and if he was on a better team he may be up for the heisman. we'll definatly need to double cover him.

okay, I'm not denigrating Gtech's defense but let's be real.

Most of their stats from last year were put up against less than stellar offenses.

V tech put up 51 points on them

Utah 38

you might take johson over shark

but would you take Ball over Quinn?

seriously?

we took apart some very good defenses last year.

And looking at scores of games three quarters or half the way through proves nothing. That is why they play four quarters. I mean that is like Willingham always saying we were only five plays away from being undefeated.

I pray that they blitz us

Please let them blitz us

It's the team's that play us straight up that gives us the most problems.

Did you see a lot of teams successfully blitz us last year?

They were in the top 25 last year in every category except pass D where they were 52. They only return five starters, including one DB. The thing that makes CW such a genuis is his ability to find the weakness and exploit it. If GT blitzs they will have to isolate their CB on our WRs... thats a mismatch.

I have been saying that this is one of the games I'm most affraid of but I only think we lose if we beat ourselves.

Calvin Johnson is a very good reciever but way too inconsitent. He dropped an easy touchdown at the end of the NC state game that cost them the game.

luck is the residue of design

rocket.... 8) I don't think too many one handed catches of a football was a design in any playbook. No offense here. May the skill and magic continue

its real nice to know that NOW Irish fans are giving ga.tech some praise, there not a bad team and under the right conditions could UPSET the irish, i really think that we will win but the game as many irish think is a tuneup for Penn state, YOUR ALL WRONG, tech has the talent to do the job just hope that the Irish luck holds ....... go Irish, Vegas has this a toss up the last time i looked.???? got to worry a little. :D

No, a one-handed catch is not in the playbook

but what is is

throw the ball where only your guy can catch it

it was designed that way

I stand aside for a good Notre Dame fan on that one rocket :D

GT Defense vs. Notre Dame offense = swiss cheese
