Posted August 21, 200618 yr Greg Little has set his announcement date for October 6th at his schools homecoming game. Between now and than he will visit Southern Cal, ND, Michigan, Miami, Florida and Oklahoma.
August 21, 200618 yr he must be taking an unoffical to one of these schools since i thought a recruite was only allowed five offical visits.
August 21, 200618 yr i think little will choose ND but i still feel he would be a better fit at OLB then at WR.
August 21, 200618 yr i think little will choose ND but i still feel he would be a better fit at OLB then at WR. Why? because of his size and athleticism? have you seen film on him at OLB? not arguing, just curious.
August 21, 200618 yr Why? because of his size and athleticism? have you seen film on him at OLB? not arguing, just curious. i've seen a little film on him but not much. i really think he would make a real good OLB with his size, speed, athleticism and he also has a real good frame for putting on solid muscle mass. he would bring a great deal of speed and athletic ability to a defense that needs it bad.
August 21, 200618 yr Author What's your opinion here broke? Irish. TD already chimed in and his opinion is better than mine. I am starting to wonder if Danger is right. Little could be more suited for OLB. But than again I do not know. I also heard he did not shine when he attended one of the Florida camps with other top WR's. That being said I really wanted him in South Bend. If Charlie wants him than so do I.
August 21, 200618 yr I also heard he did not shine when he attended one of the Florida camps with other top WR's. thats the one thing that worries me about him playing WR, he hasn't played the position long enough to work on his receving skills. david givens also came into ND as an athlete who never really played WR and he turned out to be pretty good. i say just bring him in and find him a position.

Actually, Givens came to ND as one of the top ranked WR's in his class.
August 21, 200618 yr i thought he came to ND as more of an athlete, but i did see one recruiting service list him as the #1 player.

August 21, 200618 yr yeah givens and hunter were considered one of the best WR recruiting duos in the country that year.
August 21, 200618 yr what ever happened to hunter? i know he use to play for the ravens but im not sure if he's still their, a few years ago he returned a kickoff for a TD.
August 22, 200618 yr I thought G. little was choosing between UNC and ND???? or is that the other little or am I just a little confused???
August 22, 200618 yr No, same one 73. I think it's because he lives so close to Chapel Hill he won't take an official there. He wants that SC trip to say "what up" to his buddy JC. UNC's in his top 5 but it's #1 (ND) then all the rest.
August 22, 200618 yr Thanks Scotty, makes me feel a little less confused...lol I just though he was close to a lock, especially because UNC was the main comp. and then all of those other schools were mentioned....hence the confusion...plus, I honestly haven't keep up with the G Little never ending thread so I though I was just out of the loop.

David Givens was an ATH. He was projected as a WR but had played about a half dozen positions in HS. A Jack of All Trades - Master of None. An imposing physical speciman, Allan Wallace made him his #1 ranked prospect. Givens had been successful in high school on raw talent, he was gifted. But like many (most) gifted HS athletes, coaches move them where they do the team the most good. Give 'em the ball and let them rip. So he came to ND with a great deal to learn about the WR position. He was not an instant impact player ala Joey Getherall who arrived on campus as a polished WR. He struggled with routes and DBs that were jsut as fast and just as big as he was. I recall watching him come off the field in the '98 USC game at the Coliseum. After every pass play Givens was in for, he came over to Getherall. Joey would position his hands or turn his body to show him what he had done wrong and how to correct it. I was sitting with the players families and it was noted that Davie should hire Getherall as a coach. He seemed to do more instructing than the guys being paid. By the way, anybody recall who Givens position coach was? People bad mouth Davie for misusing Givens. Davie will not be confused with Weis but that's a bum rap. It took a guy named Urban Meyer, coaching him for 3 years to turn him into a productive receiver. Givens really blossomed in the pro ball. Keep in mind in the NCAA coaches get 20 hours of practice time a week to coach a player. The NFL has 168 hours a week. Side note about Givens athleticism. The night before the game I was in a hotel room with Givens, Driver, Denman, and Getherall. One of the player's father and I had picked up a bunch of IN and OUT burgers as requested and they were chowing down on them and lots of fries. Driver asked Givens, "How much do you weight now?" Givens told him and asked, "Why do you wanna know?" Driver quipped, "Cause you know Mattison wants you at LB. He talks to Coach about it all the time. How many of those burgers you had? Two? Eat another one and you'll be a backer tomorrow instead of a receiver!"
