Just trying to make your football season more enjoyable. I wish we had good games about 3 or 4 nights a week. This Friday, BYU hosts Boise. First and foremost, we play BYU. Let's scout them so we can make educated predictions. But there are other reasons we can enjoy this game.

We need Boise to lose. First, strength of schedule. It just helps for BYU to win. Secondly, Boise is trying to pass us and Michigan in winning percentage. They haven't been around as long and are making a run. They have lost twice this year and a third loss will be a big deal in this regard.

But most importantly, the game is played at BYU. We don't have to look at that retarded blue field that gives me a headache.

I have found that a game becomes really enjoyable if it relates to Notre Dame and I have a favorite team. So let's root for BYU. They may have a false religion but they are really good people and it helps us!!!!

I am a graduate of Boise State and live in Utah, so I have above-average knowledge of both teams. BSU just lost their starting QB last week against Nevada, so they will be playing second string. While the 2nd string QB played better than ours, ahem, BYU is likely due for a win and I see them overcoming Boise State by at least 2 touchdowns.

For BYU versus ND, watch out. This is the upset that is in the making. They are an improved team over last year, and Hill has actually turned into a pretty decent passing QB. His feet will give us fits, but it's his improving arm that is going to be the surprise. Their defense is also pretty damn good, and I think it's 50/50 for Notre Dame. Just warning you now that the Cougars are coming and they are due since their last victory in 2004.

BYU was extremely tough last year on defense. That quarterback looked like Andrew Hendrix on that option keeper. I'm sure he throws a lot better than Andrew. Yes, this game will not be easy. Really looking forward to watching them Saturday night. I was at Notre Dame when we played BYU about 10 years ago and met a lot of their fans. They were really good fans. We won with Jones at tailback, but I was also there the year Lou lost to BYU.

I enjoy watching teams ND plays also. Will definitely tune in Friday night.

They key will be to stop the run. Navy & Air Force should be good prep for this game. D-Line & LB's will have to play a good game.

BYU has lost to Virginia and Utah. ND has to beat them.

yes. that UVA game to start the year was so weird for BYU. they had the game won and hill threw a pick with like 2 minutes to go and UVA got the ball inside the 10 i think. defense shut down UVA all day though really. offense did nothing.

and i think Utah is much better than people think they are.

so where is your above average knowledge?? :)8-)

If you had above average knowledge too you would recognize it!!

Let's see how BYU fairs against Wisconsin on the road in 3 weeks before any judgement is passed.

Late pick or not, a loss to that hot mess in Charlottesville, Virginia, is inexcusable. Virginia is, without a doubt, the worst team in the ACC and maybe the worst team in a BCS conference this year. I'd like them to play UConn in some toilet bowl scenario to see who loses.

If you had above average knowledge too you would recognize it!!

rocket, I was joking around with him.

so where is your above average knowledge?? :)8-)

......why?

I'm looking for Utah to beat USC this week. The Trojans are battered and bruised and without Lee, Agholar and others. I just love football!!!

with the talent out for USC there might be a good chance.

However, the game is on the road, and UTAH lost last week at Arizona.

How did Utah beat Stanford?? Actually I heard Stanford played like we did against Oklahoma. They allowed the swing pass all day long.

from what i heard utah used the entire field against stanford and didnt try to run straight at them ...

I only watched a commentary on the game and he said basically Stanford did not go with the man in motion on the swing passes. Thus, two blockers for the back and only two people to make the tackle. That's exactly what we did against OU.

When Texas played OU they put the middle linebacker in motion with the back and shut him down completely.

...and this is why there are more lurkers and fewer folks that post. What an echo chamber... The only point I was trying to make is that I have above average knowledge of these guys because I live here in Utah, follow the BSU program better than most, and have watched all the games for both teams this year and am in a pretty good position to assess them. I know that BYU is better than the loss to Virginia, just ask Texas. The same Texas that killed the Oklahoma that curb-stomped us at home. They hung tough against Houston (and our boy Greenberry) and came from behind to grind out a win on the road in a hostile environment. I know that BYU has been night and day in passing the last four games versus the first three, and will present ND with the best spread QB we will see all year. I also know that Boise State has over 10 starters out with injuries and has a QB and system that will try and play right into BYU's defensive strengths. Sorry if you're underwhelmed with such advanced understanding. I am clearly inferior.

Oh man. If Boise St. loses to BYU everyone out here will go crazy! Haha! They're not use to having BSU lose.

Boise State's coach, Chris Petersen, is also flirting with Knute Rockne's all-time winning percentage as a coach, .881. Right now, he is at .899 but needs to coach two more seasons before he qualifies for the record. A loss would only drop him down to .890 so it would be nice to see him lose a few more games.

Who is that? Is he related to Oliver Closehoff?
