North Carolina is 1-4. One win over absolutely nobody. They play Miami this week. #10 Miami. They will be 1-5. Losing breeds losing. Losing breeds infighting. Losing loses recruits. Go back after Elijah Hood. We can turn this back around like the coaches did with Tuitt and Lynch.

Yeah, I don't think it was ever because of winning and losing that he flipped to UNC. Unless ND has moved to around the Blue Ridge Mountains or UNC has moved to the Indiana Dunes, the reasons he flipped haven't been affected.

I understand that, but the fact is he once was committed to us. The North Carolina people never gave up recruiting him. What if we were 1-4?? We would be miserable and losing faith. Each North Carolina loss adds to the depression around the program. Nobody likes losing. Is their offensive line any good?? Boy, our offensive line will be stellar next year and for years after that. A running quarterback opens up lanes for the running backs. Just so much logic to come back to Notre Dame. Wish I could be in his ear every day.

say we got hood to go with folston, bryant, GAIII. what then? a bunch of hood transfering threads? a bunch of people saying play hood more cuz he holds all the answers?

I think we have to accept that this will be a poor year for RB recruiting. All five RBs are back next year. Next year, Cam and GA3 are seniors, AC is a RS JR, Folston a soph, and Bryant an RS frosh (assuming he gets the retro RS). If I'm Hood, I'd have a hard time convincing myself that's a good situation to be getting into.

Why is our recruiting limited because we have a backup and running back... Sony Michele and Nick Chubb aren't backing out of Georgia because Gurly and Marshall are there. Derrick Henry and Tenpenny didn't back out of Bama because they are loaded. I want guys who want to be challenged... get hood out if he doesn't want to compete!!

Im not saying he doesn't, im just saying that's the kind of players I want.

We don't have a back like Hood. He is the thunder we are missing. He is not afraid of competition. He would play as a freshman. This is the kind of back Bama gets. Just not giving up on this one with the shambles that North carolina is in.

Purdue's demise is part of the reason we will get Tranquill.

Iowa State is struggling and that will help us flip that 6' 5'' receiver. He is coming for the USC game. Man, I hope we look good this Saturday.

Right with Bryant red-shirting isn't he essentially the 5-star RB for next year's class? Obviously you would want Hood too, but I'd be pretty content with Folston and Bryant toting the rock for the next 4 years.

I gotta agree with this. The top programs go after the best players even when they have great players with tons of eligibility. They tell the new recruits "come prove you can play", and the kids do.

Alabama stacks up kids like they're going out of style. USC used to do the same. LSU and Texas get the top in-state recruits, no matter who is already there.

It's all about attitude. I think this staff can pull it off.

We used to do the same as well when Lou was here, especially at RB. Of course we also had a very run oriented offense where it was not uncommon to have a full house backfield line up for short distance and goal line efforts. Great thing about those days too was seeing some of those stud RB's getting moved to other positions and becoming stars there as well.

Competition breeds success IMO. Successful programs have stars lined up to play for them regardless of the depth chart, again see Bama as well as a few others.

I don't know how you can definitively say any of these things.

Not sure how you can make any of the statements about Hood. All you've seen is body type and HS footage. You said the same about Malik and he won't see the field, mono or not....big jump, mentally and physically.

Tranquil, like your claim that he will be elite, just not sure.

Lazard, I think he reaffirmed his commitment to ISU following the ISU-Texas game.

Or, their demise could push them to offer a couple of his high school teammates and could keep Drue in Purdue.....or it could push him to start as a freshman there.....

Winning and losing aren't always everything. If they were, there would have been no reason for Mike Floyd, Manti T'eo, KLM, Cierre, Theo, etc.

He flipped for locality. Unless the locations of the respective universities change, and they won't, I would doubt that Hood would flip back, especially this long after he originally flipped. Of course, it doesn't hurt to keep in contact, but to put your eggs in that basket is just unlikely. Just as expecting Tranquill to come to ND over Purdue simply because we've won more games than Purdue. There's other things that can come into play, like clicking with the coaching staff, maybe being part of the class that "changes" things at Purdue, etc.
