Parseghians theorem
thread is fine. was posed out of the "if kelly left on his own mindset"
Katzenboyer
Think BK is the best guy for the Notre Dame job. But if he left, accepted an NFL job, etc. I'd want two guys to be contacted: Art Briles and Al Golden. While I'd love Shaw, I don't think he leaves Stanford - isn't he an alum? - and if he did, it'd be for an NFL gig. Strong will stay at Louisville or take an SEC gig so I don't think he's a realistic option.
toddrhodes
This thread would exist because ITS NOT AT ALL BASHING KELLY OR ANTI KELLY! This thread is here because I was reading "The System" by Benedict and Keteyian and they have a chapter with WSU AD Bill Moos and he talks about how he has always kept a short list of possible head coaches, just in case, even when he was in charge of Oregon. Once again, it's not a "Fire Kelly" thread. It's a thread based on the idea that a good AD will always be prepared just in case. If you were that AD, who would be on your short list to keep an eye on? NOT A BASH KELLY THEREAD! NOT A FIRE KELLY THREAD! Just an interesting idea long term. That is all. I blame the rum last night. My bad.

marcwithglasses
1) Shaw - Stanford 2) Petterson - Boise State 3) Sarkisian - Washington 4) Briles - Baylor 5) Fitzgerald - Northwestern
marcwithglasses
and since BK was looking (Eagles) ND should look around every now and again just to check things out, he started it!

Powlus proud 3
Tony Alford, great recruiter. Develops the running backs rather well, plus it would make for the smoothest transition following Kelly.
edcubby
This thread is ridiculous...why even go down this road. That being said I'd take Brilies at Baylor. Just sayn
Pregame
In all seriousness, ND always needs to be keeping tabs on the next HC. Things change, people leave, etc. Excluding top tier guys like Stoops, Urban, Saban, etc. Ready Made Guys Strong Fitzgerald Sumlin Peterson Shaw Patterson Sark Few more minutes in the oven guys Briles Diaco Kingsbury (personal favorite)
ndomer4
1. Strong 2. Sumlin 3. Sarkisian I'm not sure Sumlin would leave A&M, that is a destination job. The other two aren't at destination jobs IMO, but they both recruit pretty well at their respective schools. It's obvious Kelly is safe but I wouldn't complain about having the three above. Rockets Revenge
None of the coaches listed in this entire thread meet all 3 of the following citeria: 1. Administration would seriously hire. 2. Would accept the ND job. 3. Would be an upgrade over BK. So I don't understand why you guys are trying to fire him??!! :llama::llama::llama:

Most are going off the possibility that Kelly leaves for the NFL. Honestly I wouldn't miss him because I think hes massively overrated. He hasn't done better than Weis and Charlie wasn't good. ColinKSU
He was contacted and answered the phone the last time the job was open. How did ND absolutely make a mistake passing for a coach that has multiple titles (albeit lower division) and undefeated seasons? Anyone who has BK being the coach at ND past the next three years is hopefully typing in pencil. I was referring to his career as a football player and a high school recruit. Honestly I wouldn't miss him because I think hes massively overrated. He hasn't done better than Weis and Charlie wasn't good. It was a joke......hence the llamas. BK is WAAAAY better than Weis. He is recruiting depth especially on the lines. He hasn't finished worse than 8-4. BK took ND to the NCG. He won 10 straight home games. I could go on. Oh yeah, and he is "nasty" too!!!!!! ckp160
I like the idea of Kingsbury. That offense is pretty dang good. I think Sarkisian would be a super long shot. I live in the greater Seattle area and I can say without a doubt he has the fanbase in a frenzy. Udub would probably match any offer he got. Again, I would have started this thread if we were 0-12 or 12-0 because it's not at all pushing Kelly out the door. It's a hypothetical, as stated several times. All good AD's ALWAYS have a short list in their pocket JUST IN CASE THE JOB OPENS UP. It was never advocating firing Kelly. Come on people. coltssb
Bk is my guy. But I'll play along. 1). Jim harbaugh 2). John Gruden 3). Bill o'brien 4). Bill Cowher(he'd never do it for any amount of $) 5). David Shaw 6). Charlie Strong 7). Art Briles . Gary Patterson. 9). Tom Coughlin 10). Mike Smith

We are never getting Gruden, Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer, Stoops, etc........
