In wooing four-star receiver Cordell Broadus, Notre Dame heeded the sage counsel of the player's own father: Game Don't Wait.

The son of rapper Snoop Dogg, who is still just a high school junior, now has a scholarship offer from the Irish. Broadus' high school coach tweeted the news out Thursday.

"Cordell Broadus was offered by Notre Dame today," Diamond Bar (Calif.) High School coach Ryan Maine wrote on the football team's Twitter account.

Famous bloodlines aside, the 6-foot-3-inch, 186-pound Broadus has established a name for himself in recruiting circles. He is a four-star prospect in Rivals.com's Class of 2015 rankings and reportedly has offers from LSU, Nebraska, UCLA and USC among others.

Broadus had 38 catches for 513 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore for Diamond Bar High School.

I am with Rocket care to explain why?!

I can't speak for mcdougal, but some people get upset when kids with rich/famous parents take a scholarship. They think the parents should pay tuition, and leave the scholly available for someone else.

P. Diddy's (or whatever) son Justin Combs had an issue with this when he got a football scholarship to UCLA.

In related rapper news, Nate Dogg's son (Naijiel Hale) is a 3/4 star player from CA. He committed to Arizona a few months ago, so he will be hangin out with our old pal DaVonte Neal...

Whatever you might think of Snoop, keep in mind PLENTY of former Notre Dame greats were raised by father's who weren't 1/3 the dad he his to his son.

I guess what I am saying is, judge the kid not the dad.

Snoop is a badass. He's been heavily involved in youth football... hell, he started a youth football league to help inner city kids. Cordell has been playing for years, and his teams were the best in CA. Snoop even paid for the entire team to go play against a top team in Texas. Chances are slim that Cordell leaves CA, but it would be pretty cool if he gives ND a visit. The thought of Snoop and Kelly interacting is hilarious :-P

And I would have problem with it to if the kids got a schlocky only on their parents name. But this kid is a legit 4* on Rivals. C Rob was only a 3* so I guess we shouldn't have offered him either. Go watch the tape of Broadas. Look at his offer list. He earned the offer. I have no problem with it.

I have no problem with the offer because I don't care who his father is. While I'm no rap fan and certainly haven't followed Snoop Dog/Lion/Mammal(), I've heard positive anecdotes about him. It sounds as though he's an engaged parent and if his son has the grades to qualify for a scholarship to institutions like ND, Duke, UCLA, Cal and USC he or his son have done something right. You don't get an offer list like he has by being a slacker.

I can see the point about celebrities' kids whose parents can easily pay their tuition receiving scholarships but if they have put the work in and earned it both athletically and academically, I don't really have a problem with it. I'm sure there are plenty of student athletes around the country that are the offspring of well off people who aren't celebrities yet could afford tuition even if their child wasn't offered a scholarship.

That said, Snoop would certainly be a sight on the sidelines. If Cordell did end up committing to ND, we would be playing USC here in Indiana his freshman year. Would Snoop sport the ND colors like the Admiral? The split ND/USC look? Would he cover his ears when "Crazy Train" blasts through the speakers? :-)

Good luck to the young man regardless.
