Is Condi qualified

I don't care that she is a woman. Makes no difference to me.

But from the onset, I'm very curious of her football resume. To get any job, I would expect you to be qualified in that realm. Does she watch enough football? Does she poor over stats, film? Will the others?

Does here opinion of teams come from what she hears on ESPN or other stations?

Just because I've watched Iron Chef, doesn't mean I can be on the judging panel next season.

Would love to hear thoughts here.

I think that's the whole reason why they decided to have her on the committe. The fact that she doesn't have a background in football and never played could help. I was listening to the local sports radio broadcast and they were talking about it. They said that she could help bring clarity to certain situations and make them look at things in certain points of view.

Besides, i still don't agree with current athletic directors being on the committe. And that includes Jack Swarbrick. Just seem like a conflict of interest to me. But then again, i guess former coaches could too?

This whole new playoff B.S. could potentially be worse then what we already have. Only time will tell i guess.

but if you are not in tune and dont watch. what opinions provide any clarity?

I didn't think i had to say that she follows college football. I thought you knew that? Or maybe that's the reason why you're asking the question? I know she's a Stanford alum and i have heard her talk about college football in the past. If she doens't "tune in and watch", (which i know she does) then i know she will now.

Also, opinions do matter and provide clarity if used corerctly. Like if they're trying to argue X's and O's, she's going to need to step in and make them look at it differently. That's what's going to make the selection work. Besides, how is this any different then what there already is with the current system. You have 2/3 human voting, which is a lot of media that have never played and 1/3 computer.

How do you feel about Mike Tanghese? He's supposed to be on the committe and he's never played football. Isn't that what this is really all about anyway?

Here's my take. I think this committee needs to have competent people on it, obviously. If there's one person on this earth who is competent and who DOES follow college football unlike what a lot of the men's club media-types want you to think, it's Condoleezza Rice. Can she identify a better 1 loss team?? Pretty sure she can. Can she do it better than some of the other "qualified" coaches on this list?? No doubt. And I find it funny that you had to have played in order to understand the game. Oh yeah? Mike Leach seems to understand it quite well. Not to mention that another member already on the list played golf in college and not a down of football yet his acumen is overlooked. And have you seen some of the rankings these guys put down on their ballots before?? And yes, I'm aware that some of these coaches show bias when it comes to the polls on purpose, but I have complete faith in Condoleezza because I know that she has integrity and that she has competence. She'll do her homework and watch the games, and yes, she understands quite well the game of football. I heard her give a quick interview once about college football and she was very bright. She really knew and understood the game which is more than I can say for other coaches. We're talking about 4 teams in the end, which will probably be pretty simple to determine towards the end of the season.
