If ND gets to 9-2 going into Stanford, I'd have to guess they'd be between 10-15 at that point. So would a loss to a top 5 Stanford get them lower than 14? Probably. But, let's assume they lose to USC to get to 4-3, the run off 5 straight including a win over a top 5 Stanford to end the year. Would that streak get them to the top 14? Again, maybe, and I think a bit more likely. So if 9-3 is the BCS mark, I think it would be better for the loss to come vs. USC than Stanford. As far as what bowl if not BCS, it doesn't matter if ND goes 6-6 or 9-3. They will get whatever is the best bowl that doesn't get whatever teams are assigned to it because of not enough eligible teams out of a conference. In other words, not a good one. hawaiiirish 62 Posted October 7, 2013 Share Posted October 7, 2013 We are at #27 and WILL NOT IMHO get to a BCS bowl at 9-3---Just not gonna happen.----If that 3rd loss is in 2 weeks to USC we drop out of theTOP 30 totally---even running the table won't help that.----If the loss is late to Stanford we will UNDO much of the ground we made up in the previous 6 weeks NO BCS at 9-3--forget about it---- If we close out with 7 STRAIGHT at 10-2 then yes that's the ONLY PATH! That said 9-3 would be AWESOME but is likely NOT realistic ---- It is true that BOTH the defense and the run game especially the DEFENSE can be a difference maker now if they continue to WAKE UP! But it is also true that TOMMY will have at least TWO MORE HORRIBLE games , maybe--maybe the defense & some breaks can win one of those for us----but that's a HUUUGE IF---- BEAT USC and we are back in business----NOT BCS business but we can have a pretty good season ---any season we beat USC is pretty good----- aloha's Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dangeruss 6 Posted October 7, 2013 Share Posted October 7, 2013 I agree Hawaii that a 9-3 record wont get us to a BCS game but im fine with that. if ND does finish 9-3 i'd rather not go to a BCS game cause if we did we'd get killed. i'd rather go to a lower bowl and have a shot at a 10-3 record. This team is at best 8-4 but more like 7-5 with 6-6 a real possibility. Let the season play out before you start making your reservations. I don't know enough about the tie-ins to predict where we would go. However, if a 9-3 ND ends up in a bowl like the Pinstripe or Compass bowls, then Swarbrick has some work to do.
