It's finally time to see Kendall Moore

We've all seen this very athletic and fast middle linebacker and we have wondered why he has not played more. Coaches explained he was not in the proper place a lot of the time. Well, it's Kendall Moore time and this could be good news for next year when our offense is going to be warp speed and dynamic with loads of big play ability.

We need a playmaker in the middle and Kendall can move and loves to hit and hit hard. I am very optimistic that he will pick up the slack left by Grace's injury. It is really good to have a week off right now. We need to get some people ready. We need to give Stephon Tuitt a rest as he has some back problems from his surgery.

Look for Folston to get some reps. Couldn't really play him against ASU with all those blitzes coming constantly. He is going to be a stud. He will also be very good at his blocking chores in time.

Deeb will most likely lose his redshirt status as well. I can tell you he is one tough character and will pack a punch, but it is Kendall Moore that has me excited. There is absolutely no depth here. We are addressing this in the next class but it is imperative that Moore step up now. If he does, look for the Grace/Moore tandem next year. We need you Kendall.

Thank heavens Joe Schmidt walked on and I think he now possesses a scholarship. This kid has been around a while and is a pretty good football player. Remember he had the interception in the spring game against Malik. Hopefully he is not counted on heavily but he is an adequate backup and I bet he is happy he stuck it out.

If Moore hasn't cracked the lineup yet, after being here 3 years, why is the thinking that he is going to come in and wreck shop? There is a reason he hasn't been playing, and I bet it is because he is not mentally prepared to handle the requirements of playing inside. I'm sure he is a great athlete, but the inside guy has the to be the QB of the defense, and it isn't just run and hit people like special teams. I'd be willing to bet that we mainly just see Fax and Calabrese most of the time, with some normal rotations of Moore and possibly others, but I don't see him coming in and taking over.

still surprised he didn't get on scholarship offer. I wouldn't mind seeing him get his shot to see what he can do, I really liked this kid coming out of high school.

I don't recall seeing Schmidt playing linebacker against ASU. It wouldn't surprise me though. Kendall Moore isn't going to be calling signals, that will be Fox and Callabrese, but if he is smart enough to make it through 3 years at Notre Dame he is smart enough to learn his assignments and keys. We lose both starters for next year. We need Kendall to get ready and get a ton of reps.

^^^^^ Well stated. If KM is so much more capable now because he has had 3 years in the program and is smart enough to stay enrolled, then I guess his talent level really wasn't that good to begin with. Ridiculous to assume that he is now ready or able to make an impact because he can grow more hair on his face now and pass his tests.

Yep, Schmidt was the first ILB I saw on the field after Grace injury, aside from Carlo and Fox obviously. Not expecting much from Kendall Moore, other than the occasional big hit and alot of sub-optimal run fits & pass coverage.

We all really need to hope that we do not have any more injuies to the linebackers or the d-line. We are scary thin at both positions right now. The workload for Carlo and Fox is going to be insane given the coaches desire to not sub out the linebackers in long yardage/obvious passing situations. Schmidt will play for sure...then KM and Deeb will get shots. Based on Kelly's press conference it sounds like Schmidt then Deeb then Moore.

Based on the same press conference I thought Moore was the first name off coach's lips. This won't take long to play out. I imagine we will hear some things from practice reports. I still want to redshirt Deeb. Sure wish Anzalone would have stuck.

Edited to show Kelly's remark. "Kendall Moore is going to obviously have to play and Joe Schmidt will play some''.

  • 3 weeks later...

Kendall played very well in my opinion yesterday. He is so athletic, fast and hits like a tank. Not good in pass coverage?? I don't know about that. He certainly couldn't be worse than Carlos.

I think he will play more and more and if we work out the kinks he is a starter next year and gives us that speed we are lacking in the middle. Maybe some of you know more about this than I do, but I see a player that brings a huge upgrade to our defense.
