Island Domer 0
Wow , just wow! Talk about all the hype and more. It is going to be a pleasure watching this kid develop. He has three time AA written all over him. So athletic, driven, nasty and gifted. Favorite player of that class. The future looks bright for this young man. Again, wow! ndomer4 532
He really looked good yesterday, it was nice to see. I would like to see the staff get him rushing the passer, I think he would wreak havoc doing that.
IrishWarrior81 0
Fort Wayne represent. It's awesome as a resident of the city to see a couple kids recently have a positive impact on the team. Obviously Eiffert was unreal and now it looks like Jaylon could be a difference maker.
irishrb 0
He had a phenomenal game. He was football fast, mostly in good position, and made a lot of plays. He is definitely going to be exciting to watch develop!
Katzenboyer 0
Awesome game. The kid oozes with potential, and it looks like he's already tapping into it. Love to see impact players like him on the defensive side of the ball.
chirodomer 47
Personally, Id like to see Redfield take his place on D and move him to tailback. He's fast and just gets it! I've felt that way since I saw him in last years state championship game where he played both ways. He's good and I'd venture to say better than what we 're running there now. Redfield is a safety for sure. Jaylon is an outside backer for sure. Hes our best athlete on defense and you want to move him to a position where we have 5 running backs. Folston cant even get on field much (prob. because of the playbook) Not a good move. Defense needs more Jaylon Smiths, not less
Irish_Thunder 197
The game is starting to slow down for him, he will be wowing people more and more as we get into the season! Elite talent.
irishguy773 0
He did a good job visualizing and attacking. There were a few plays where he was in a bad spot, but his elite athleticism allowed him to get back and still make big plays. It was great to see. OKCIrish99 3
That tackle he had for a loss in the first half against ASU was an absolute thing of beauty. Love this kid's drive/athleticism. Will have a great career at Notre Dame. Great job Jaylon Smith!!

This post simply does not make sense. 1 - Redfield is a safety 2 - Jaylon is a linebacker 3 - Jaylon is doing awesome at LB 4 - Our running game is doing just fine, regardless of how bad you think GAIII is 5 - Moving Jaylon to RB would require him to learn the offense which will basically ruin him for the rest of this year I just dont understand how you can make this comment. It is a mixture of stubborn pessimism and the shiny new toy syndrome.
BrianKellyWasNotTheMan 12
GA3 looks like a more reliable back every game, as long as you don't throw to him.

I was just bragging on Chiro on another thread because he predicted we win the game and it be very close, but Jaylon is our best linebacker and he isn't going any where. You should have seen him in person. He can move and he looks so much more comfortable. This team needs linebackers with speed. We are going to be stellar at tailback with the development of our run game. Atkinson went backwards on that 3rd and one and he got an earful on the sidelines. Cam would have made the first down but he was momentarily injured. Cam makes us a better team.
PA_Domer 0
Cam is very good at picking the right hole, way better than GAIII. It was very obvious to me watching this game. If I'm the OC, Cam is my starter with Carlisle backing him up, and the GAIII. GAIII is fast, but Cam is football fast and even quicker than GAIII. GAIII takes too long to get to full speed, Cam's there by his third step. Just my .02.

IrishItalian15 0
If it were me I'd play Folston. Then GAIII. Then Amir. Then Cam. Cam has earned 4th string status in your eyes? Let's be real. He runs harder than anyone else on the roster, gets tough yards after contact, reliable with the ball and can catch out of the backfield. What does this kid have to do to earn some respect? IrishFan33 0
Cam has been the most consistant RB on our roster. When given the chance he has shined.. and the kid wants it, he has alot of heart.
dangeruss 6
smith is exactly the type of player/athlete that NDs defense has been missing for years. this kid is going to grow in to a beast of a OLB that will make plays at will. I love how hard it is for offensive players to block him one on one.
