Field of screams?

The divot squad worked overtime on Notre Dame Stadium’s grass field Saturday during and after ND’s 35-21 loss to Oklahoma.

On Thursday, the school took a more drastic step, essentially re-sodding the entire field from goal line to goal line.

“We’re hopeful that’s going to give us a better surface,” said Kelly, whose team next plays at home on Oct. 19 against USC.

Kelly’s long-term hopes remain having the artificial surface FieldTurf installed. The Irish practice on FieldTurf on a daily basis at the LaBar Practice Complex.

“I’ve made it pretty clear what I want for a surface,” he said, “and that has not come to fruition at this point. But we’re going to put the grass down, and we’re hopeful that that’s going to get us through the season.”

I see no way in which ND is NOT playing on Field Turf next season. To have to replace the surface after three home games is really, really bad.

Wouldn't the savings in maintenance, fertilizer, materials, water, sod, re-sodding, etc. eventually pay for FieldTurf??

Not to mention the effect on recruiting, marketing, appearance on TV, practicing & playing on the same surface, etc.

And to cut down on the potential injurty risk of practicing on one surface and playing games on another..

All day, every day. We ran this scenario with tons of variables in my cost accounting class.

Even when you consider a modest 7-8% return on investment income used to pay cash for the field versus being invested in equities.

Dear Notre Dame:

Sh!t or get off the damned pot on a whole boatload of issues.

Love: the fans

sh!t or get off the ladder!

it was an embarrassment of epic proportion...1st, it started off with one fat guy going out during commercial time outs and stomping down the divots. Next thing you know, two fat guys are out there stomping down divots..My brothers and I were cracking up..It got up to four fat guys bouncing around at a feverish pace between commercials, but the best is when one of the fat guys ran onto the field with a tamper bar while some old fat, white supervisor was screaming at all of them to move faster and get it straightened out.......it was friggin classic......the oklahoma fans got a good laugh:pound: at the cheapskate ND administration and the rest of us just shook our heads......:pout:
