hawaiiirish 62
I hate this--in order for us to get to the 8-4--which I thought was the likely result with Tommy and losing our entre backfield--WE HAVE TO BEAT ASU! But then I don't like our chances--how can I after what we got the last two weeks--- Damn! If we lose and fall to 3-3 then 7-5 seems to be the likely outcome with a loss against Stanford and winning two out of three against USC/PITT/BYU we end up 7-5--and right now that is no GIMMIE-0 7-5 was worse then even my highly temepered expectations---and with a loss to 3-3 we have to face 6-6 could be coming---HOLY CRAP!! The defensive problems and the Running game struggles have been worse--much worse then I had expected. 7-5 is just ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE for a team returning plenty of starters off a top 5 12-1 team. Blame is enough to go around---with so many targets to throw stones at--------Rees/Kelly/Diaco/ LBs/Secondary......lots of GOATS for a 7-5 season. Its really up to Kelly to find ways to take all these good recruiting classes and do BETTER then 500--MUCH BETTER--even if BCS is not possible. Right now it looks sort of bleak---WE MUST WIN AGAINST ASU but after the 61 points they put on USC it seems like a tall order for a team that DOES NOT GET POINTS EASILY! Not a lot of confidence for the ASU game---- CAN KELLY DO ANYTHING TO FIX THIS??___ Next year still seems hopeful but 2013 looks like a disaster in progress---a sinking ship with no pumps to bail with! SOMEBODY MAKE A CASE THAT WE CAN BEAT ASU!___I cannot but I know we need this game VERY BADLY! Will we be competitive or are we on the verge of going from bad to worse? I have a freezer FULL OF KOOL-AID for 2014---BUT ALL I HAVE LEFT FOR 2013 IS STALE DIET SODA!__ I NEED HELP!!! aloha's

davislove 0
gentlemen we need to pray to get an 8-4 record based on the product that we've put on the field thus far. I'd love the hear someone explain 9 wins with the use of "If's", "buts" and "howevers" .
nd1baby 0
That BYU QB could eat us up. But thank God we have 2 weeks to prepare.

Since I've yet to see a game this season where ND has played well for more than 2 quarters, I'm not exactly sure where this optimism stems from. Other than Navy and Air Force (and I'm not even certain of those right now), ND could lose to every team they play. I don't think they will, but they could. dangeruss 6
SOMEBODY MAKE A CASE THAT WE CAN BEAT ASU!___I cannot but I know we need this game VERY BADLY! ASU is ranked like 92nd against the run. if ND can ground and pound ASU I really think ND could win. against OU ND did a nice job running the ball, had it not been for giving OU an 14-0 lead at kickoff ND could have pounded out a win. I think ND takes a page out of Wisconsin and stanfords playbook and tries to run right at them. also GA3 is getting better each week. irishrb 0
I really do think ND controls the LOS in this game and escapes with a victory. I also think that maybe, just maybe, they stick to the running game a little more for the rest of the year.
corysold 0
I haven't watched ASU much. Is that 92nd because they are bad, or 92nd because they've been up so much teams are having to pass?
Big23Head 2,499
Must run the ball keep the ASU offense off the field to win this game. Plain and simple. The defense lost the 2 most important players in my opinion regarding leadership and game knowledge. Teo and Motta; their knowledge and leadership is the biggest loss on this team. Motta may have overplayed but he led and is missed more than initially realized. The D was in the right calls/position due to him and Teo. Losing contain so much, Jaylon improves every game but still it has hurts us multiple times.
NDhoosier 1,336
Win and we go 9-3....not 8-4. I would agree with this, and who knows, maybe ND plays the best game of the year and beats Stanford later on. Not counting on it, but I just dont see U$C has a better team, this ASU game will tell us a lot about the season.
hawaiiirish 62
I don't know NDHOOSIER---I would love to see that, but we have been saying since Michigan that the NEXT game will tell us a lot about the season and the team---we said that for MICHIGAN--we said that for MSU--we said that for OU--- Unfortunately those games did tell me plenty---MUCH MORE THEN I WANTED TO KNOW___ I just don't see a sudden renaissance for this years version of ND---- WE NEED ASU just to reach 8-4---its so so unlikely that Tommy does NOT lay at least two or three more COMPLETE EGGS before we are done with 2013. BYU/PITT/USC/STANFORD all have fine chances to beat this years squad. WE NEED ASU---we may not get it--doubtful even we get it--BUT THE NEED NOT TO GO 3-3 IF WE HOPE FOR 8-4 IS VERY CLEAR! aloha's
NDhoosier 1,336
Well, I didnt say that about the Purdue game, but Oklahoma sure was a statement game, a statement that says this team is not as good as we thought. If we beat Oklahoma, I could see us going 10-2 at the worst with a good shot to beat Stanford. Now, the Stanford game is almost a guaranteed loss and ASU does not look promising. Losing 4 games this season is not something I expected. The Oklahoma game was a big game, and ASU is another one.
ndomer4 532
I agree with everyone who said we need to run the ball, I hope the staff knows this and I think a steady dose of Atkinson and Folston will gash that defense. However I'm more worried about stopping their offense. I haven't seen much of them but what i have seen is that they like to spread the field. I would hope we might just play a nickel defense all game with Cole Luke in there. If not I am sure our safeties and linebackers will get torched and brutally exposed. If we don't see Mad Max this week I think we see him against USC!

97domer 89
I don't think Hawaii is making too brash of a statement. If we lose to ASU, that brings us to 3-3. Stanford is a loss with 90% certainty. I still think we run off a string of 5 wins between ASU and Stanford, but it's very plausible that we lose to either USC or BYU. I say we end up 8-4 regardless (9-4 with a bowl win!) I went back to look at my prediction for the season and realized I took the easy way out with 3 different options My heart says 10-2 with a BCS bowl victory My mind says 8-4 with a non-BCS bowl victory I'll split the difference at 9-3 with a non-BCS bowl victory against an SEC school (hopefully UF)

gipper2nd 0
Sorry,.............I just can't take another comment about how good, ( or how much we miss), KLM. He was just an average defensive end.....average. He could never stop any back coming around his end. None of the NFL scouts thought he would get drafted. Did he? Perhaps some of you are confusing how good of an ND man he was, with how good of a player he was.
