lawton_irish 0
Just asking. I guarantee you Stoops and company didn't prepare to face a dual threat QB. Maybe insert Zaire to run a few option plays to give the Sooners something extra to defend.

No, Hendrix would be in front of him, not that Kelly would play another QB for anything other than a Hail Mary pass.
CTHindman 0
I think a lot of us forget that Zaire is a lefty. It is not as easy to just throw in a lefty. Blocking is backwards. I do not think we haven't seen him because he isn't ready. I think the rest of the offense isn't ready for him.
Shamrocker 0
Only way Zaire plays is if Rees, Hendrix and Massa suffer injuries.
JTennant 290
I hope not. Remember dual threat is not the answer unless he is any good.
LionEyes 0
Not Zaire. But I will not be surprised if we see Hendrix today though. I hope I'm wrong but I see the offense sputtering for the 1st half and Kelly switching things up, going with Hendrix in the 2nd like he did at Stanford a couple years ago. ndomer4 532
I don't think so, we need him for 5 years so lets keep the redshirt or goldshirt. i was watching film the other day and was gonna make a thread about him. Does anyone else think he looks like Michael Vick? The arm and speed isn't Vick caliber but it is definitely close. The way he throws and swiftly moves and jumps around in the pocket just looks so like Vick. Gets me excited for the future.

AlabamaDuck 0
If Zaire in a good dual threat QB and in good health, play him. If he is good and comes in next year as a RS, he will not help us that much and it might hurt recruiting a good QB. We need wins for the players, fans and it will help recruiting overall. If he is good enough to Red Shirt, he is good enough to play this year. Could he be better than Golson with experience? That is IF Golson does return. DamshaBua 50
I'm trying not to be completely reactionary and rash. But I'm over Tommy Rees playing. It is utterly infuriating. Nine completions today, folks, NINE with three picks. That comes off of fourteen last week. If it won't be Hendrix, I'm willing to burn Zaire's goldshirt. At this point, it's worth it. BrianKellyWasNotTheMan 12
I just want to see if Malik adds a little more rhythm to the O. Hell if he plays horrible then at least we tried and shuts up a lot of fans (including me).
BrianKellyWasNotTheMan 12
Also, this O has to be used to playing with a running QB. Though yes he is a lefty and switches things up.
davislove 0
yup high school film I'm sorry, but judging a player off of his high school film is like judging Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" by the first 3 and a half minutes. IrishFan33 0
Look at what TR has done the last 2 games and Kelly hasn't even made the switch to Hendrix who has now been at ND since Knute was here and still can't beat out a guy with no arm or legs... There is noway we see MZ this season.

Maybe Kelly knows what he has better than Domer Domain does.)

Or maybe Coach Kelly is just stubborn and or arrogant I mean it was a tough decision for him last year to go with Golson over Tommy IMO. Practice doesnt always transfer to the game ala Tommy Rees if we went by how the coaches say how good Tommy is in practice then he wouldnt be this bad. What else do you expect me to make a judgement on him from? From the film he has good pocket awareness, a strong arm and he's fast (also did great in elite 11). He might not pan out but if Urban Meyer and Nick Saban wanted him than I'll take my chances. I just said I see some similarities with Vick, by no means am I calling him the next Vick. At this point if Hendrix can't get a chance from this coaching staff then we have to get this kid starting next week.

How much time have you spent with Kelly to form that opinion? Because I don't know that what I said either is true. I'm not at practice to see it with my own two eyes, thus my opinion is as valid as the person saying ANYONE has to be better than Rees.
