He could provide such a huge spark and keep the defense on their toes. What do you guys think?

jfjkd1965 0
If Tommy struggles this week, Kelly should let Hendrix play. I like the idea of Hendrix & the RB's for the option play. The pistol would be better with Hendrix.

coltssb 1,125
Even when he was in a groove, we still only scored 7, 14 points? I saw lot more running which I liked, but I also saw a lot of missed throws, (lucky) throws to 1st round draft picks, and of course, that ugly hard throw that was a pick to Eifert. He took a lot of sacks or close to sacks. He always reminded me of a rhythm passer. If the rhythm is off then he looks lost. That's my main concern with him. If he comes in for 10 plays, does he screw up any type of rhythm? After somewhat ripping him, I have to agree. I would love to see some option, QUICK SLANTS, and qb draws with him. I think it would be a nice change of pace.
LasVegasIrish 0
Two encouraging things from that tape: 1) He was still very young 2) He has tremendous athletic ability If Rees stinks it up against Oklahoma, it is worth a shot
IrishFan33 0
It just blows my mind that Kelly who has a great Rep of coaching QB's has not been able to do anything with this kid....
Scotty88 0
Tommy should be the starter, but why is Hendrix not getting 10 plays a game or so. I don't think we've been able to afford the 10 plays since the games have been so tight and the focus has been on passing. I would even take 3-6 plays a game to give the opposing d something else to think about.

If you'd agree that our pass pro has been acceptable, then maybe you'd understand that having a mobile QB could help balance out the plays the defense runs with the threat of having a kid who can rip off some positive yards if nothing is open downfield. They'll either probably tone down the pass rush and play vanilla up front(remember stunts and edge rushes create huge running lanes) and/or drop another DB/linebacker to hold the QB in the pocket which would free up another player or spot on the field. "predictable" we had good balance against MSU and threw only 7 times in final 30 minutes. and if we put in hendrix evertime on 3rd and short we will have to pass out of it at some point. I was talking about the benefits of having a mobile quarterback in general, but to answer your question, perhaps... Having a zone option running play is much different than an inside zone handoff, so maybe we convert a couple more third downs with Hendrix in there as a third and short QB. Coach Kelly?
