It seems like Notre Dame football is at a major crossroads, with significant changes happening after an impressive 14-2 season. Despite the success, it's clear that the program's staff turnover is creating some big challenges for head coach Marcus Freeman. But it also looks like Freeman is working diligently to navigate these changes by bringing in some strong new hires.
Chris Ash replaces Al Golden
The decision to replace Al Golden with Chris Ash seems strategic, especially considering Ash's background with defensive backs and his leadership beside Luke Fickell. Golden's style was clearly popular, so it'll be interesting to see if Ash’s fiery approach can maintain that same level of success. His expertise should complement the strong defensive talent already present, but the transition could still have its bumps.
Ja’Juan Seider is a big get
With the talented trio of Jerimiyah Love, Jadarian Price, and Aneyas Williams at running back, having someone with Seider’s track record will certainly keep that position as a strength. His experience with developing 1,000-yard rushers at Penn State is a major win for the Irish.
A new GM (Mike Martin)
The search for a new General Manager is definitely an intriguing one. The evolving nature of college football’s rules around recruiting, the transfer portal, and NIL demands a savvy, experienced leader. Mike Martin seems like an excellent choice to help navigate this new era, and building out a robust scouting department could help the Irish gain an edge on the competition, especially with such a complex landscape.
Building for Long-Term Success
All in all, Marcus Freeman is making moves to stay ahead of the curve, and while there are inevitable challenges, these hires could help position Notre Dame for continued success. It's exciting to see how these changes will unfold and if they'll pay off in the long run. What do you think of these moves? Does the future of Notre Dame football look bright to you?
First and foremost, I think I have a serious problem. I am sitting here with my girlfriend who I've been looking forward to seeing all week and I'm busily typing away on her laptop to you people! Then again she is watching Dirty Dancing, so this isn't such a bad alternative. "Nobody puts baby in a corner!"
Anyways, if anyone wants to see something hilarious, check out the Pittsburgh Live website college sports forum. Humor at it's highest.
More high humor... Alan Grant's Page 2 article on ESPN.com What an absolute f*ing turncoat. I personally feel betrayed because here is someone who I thought genuinely "got" Notre Dame. Unfortunately, it was merely just an attempt for him to line his pockets. Why else would he make sure to make a link to Amazon.com where you can give him more money. Please, sit down and give it a read. All sorts of insights into why Notre Dame is horrible and why Alan Grant is so much superior to everyone.
On to the game, my 34-20 prediction apparently was a little too conservative. I made it to BW-3s about a half hour before kickoff.
Couple key points.
1) I got real real worried when they scored so quickly.
2) That first TD on the screen pass didn't do much to to allay my fears. I've seen too many of those screen passes give me a false sense of hope.
3) Palko did fumble, that indisputable evidence was rediculous!
4) Anyone else worried about Darius' ankle? Up until that point I thought they were overusing him.
5) Stovall needs to live up to his potential... Brady's got to get him the ball as well.
6) Way, way too many plenalties. Charlie will have that fixed in time for Michigan.
7) None the less, I can't wait to see what Corso says next weekend.
9) I wish I got tickets!
10) It was nice seeing RPN getting the rock. Wish Schwappy got more of an opportunity.
11) Despite all the different formations, combinations, etc the boys were still able to figure it out and actually seemed to understand the offense. IE-Darius running the ball. There were a couple cut backs he made that he wouldn't have if he didn't know exactly where everyone was supposed to be on a play.
12) Game was over when Mitchell forced the fumble Ndukwe recovered on the kickoff.
I'm sure there's going to be more on Tuesday (first day back at work) but until then I'm going to be enjoying my time in SB with the girlfriend...
PEACE OUT IRISH
