corysold 0
So after four games this year and the preceding seasons I've come to the conclusion that Kelly is simply a genius and the best coach in America. Seriously. I'm watching the product he is putting on the field and there are times it is the biggest pile of junk I've ever seen. The QB can't hit an open WR to save his life. A RB breaking a tackle and making someone miss is an unexpected shock. The offensive line can't pick up 3rd and 1 if their lives depended on it. The offensive game plan involves emptying the backfield and letting your inept QB throw the ball all over the field. The offense is averaging 22 points per game. The red zone offense is laughable at best. Special teams have been a joke for 4 seasons. Kelly runs off more 5* talent than any coach in history. But despite this, he's 3-1 this year and 15-2 in his last 17. There is nothing else to say, other than he must be a diabolical genius and the greatest coach in America. Just win baby. ndmike88 141
Last season EVERYTHING went his way. This year he is living on the edge of a cliff and is ready to fall off. His team can't run or tackle. Living off of Rees can only last so long.

His team can't run or tackle. Living off of Rees can only last so long. That's what I mean. Watching this team, you'd never guess they've won 23 of 28. That is one of the best record in football over that time. So either it is all smoke and mirrors ready to come crashing down or Kelly is a genius and when he gets a QB this thing will be a juggernaut. Irish9 0
I have no idea why he continues to call thirty yard lobs. I cussed Kelly out all day yesterday. That was pitiful offense. Cam is the only bright spot except Atkinson broke a couple tackles. Thank god Robinson is 6'5. I know we are limited with Tommy, but the game plan is awful. More balls are thrown out of bounds than in the field of play. I have no idea how they are gonna beat anybody good.
Shamrocker 0
QB has been Kelly's achilles heel. He was stuck with a dud in Dayne Crist when he got here. Then he had Rees the next year and a half. He recruited his guy in Golson redshirted him so he'd be ready and comfortable. Golson played well last year and it finally looked liked we had some momentum at that postion and with our offense going forward. Then Golson gets expelled and we're back to square one. Luck of the Irish He won with smoke and mirrors yesterday.I give him credit for that. Jim Tressel won a lot of games at OSU his first year like that. Irish9 0
I disagree. The game plan sucks. Nothing underneath all day except one pass to Niklas that he fumbled after the catch. I know there isn't a play called thirty yard lob also. It was a figure of speech. Thanks for pointing that out though.

Thanks for pointing that out though. Exactly! That is why he's a genius! Think about it. He went into a game with a plan of letting his weak arm QB throw the ball downfield all game. Nobody in their right mind draws up that gameplan. And he won. He is literally toying with college footbsll right now. He probably sits in his office and cackles with delight as he comes up with different ways to win with Tommy Rees. I mean seriously, who sits down on Monday and says, "This week I'm going to beat Michigan St with Tommy Rees throwing downfield all f'in game." On top of that, he knows he's so good, he plays without special teams just to make it interesting. Thanks for pointing that out though. you are welcome. looks like we shoud have gone with dantonio game plan :pray2: when it comes to football, kelly is so much smarter than you it isn't even funny. I'm all for second guessing when there is intelligent rebuttal about a solution. not just "game plan sucked" but you have no idea what the game plan was. im not saying it was the greatest ever but i have no freaking idea what it was. probabaly involved taking advantage of 1 on 1 on the edge. stay away from middle to avoid tip passes and interceptions by the safeties. the one on one was going to give us a big completion or incomplete. we FORCED the MSU corners to cover and we got PIs for it that helped us win. we won like we won last year. You started so well, PT, and ended so poorly. I guess the coach is right because he's the coach. But I agree -- he's a genius. Amazing how he can win the close ones. Glad we don't have Dantonio as a HC.
Irish9 0
We have no inside or underneath receptions. That is something that they would work on in practice I would think. If it was in the game plan we would be doing it every now and then. Every team we play has success on third down just tossing the five yard pass to the tight end or receiver. We never use it and it's high percentage. Although I did see Rees go deep when guys were open underneath and he will not throw it to them. Maybe that's why Kelly is always looking at him like he wants to choke him on the sideline. Maybe it's there and Rees is the problem. That is exactly what you do when the box is stacked, D is playing man, and you have favorable matchups. Imagine if Rees would have connected @ 60 - 70 %. Frankus 212
I think today Kelly is probably very frustrated today. He now has a lot of down the field speed and has built his offense around getting the ball down field, but we did not take advantage of it. Last year he FINALLY got a QB that can do what he wanted and we went to the championship game. Next year with Zaire and Golson at QB; Daniels, Chris Brown, Robinson, Fuller, Prosise at WR; and Carlisle, Folston, and Bryant at RB We WILL be a machine.
