corysold
Kelly was pretty adamt they were going to play. Bryant had one carry and Folston had one play on a pass that I saw. Did he mean they would play ask g as the game wasn't close? I don't know what else he needs to see. Now Amir can't hang onto the ball or cath it, Cam has a lions heart, but lacks elite talent. For a supposed elite group, I've been very underwhelmed by the Rb play this year. Could the freshmen be that far behind?
RockyBoiman
why do the fresh need to play? Cam was a the best back on the field. Gets his level down and always moves forward. never goes down on the first hit like feeble ga3 (might be softest back ever cant break arm tackles). The rest of the rbs sucked i hope cam starts against msu not any freshman
corysold
I don't know if they "need" to play, I just found it odd he said they would play, then each got one snap. I agree Cam looked the best, but ND needs more than Cam to win games this year.
indyirishdad
I assume BK believed the game would not go as it did. If ND covers the spread, the freshman play.
RockyBoiman
whats wrong with cam? guy runs super hard, protects the ball and get like 4 yards every carry
corysold
whats wrong with cam? guy runs super hard, protects the ball and get like 4 yards every carry Nothing is "wrong" with Cam. He does run hard. He does do a lot of good things. Bu he doesn't have elite speed to make the big play. I think Cam fits his niche perfectly, pick up the tough yards, but I also think ND needs a second back to emerge. This thread was more wondering why he said Folston and Bryant had scripted plays for them and they would play, then they didn't.

corysold
did kelly say how much they would play? Well no. But I don't think Folston's scripted play was a bubble screen to the WR.
irishrb
The Freshman NEED to play. GAIII-runs too high, gets taken down too easily, has no shiftiness, and can't catch the ball. ND needs to use his speed and he needs the ball, but it has to be spotty and around the edges. Amir-He's actually my least favorite of all the backs right now. He's SLOW to the line of scrimmage, and not quite tough enough. Cam-He gives you what is there. He's a good, tough back. He's not elite though. Bryant-We don't really know at the college level what he can do. He is quick to the LOS though. Folston-Once again, we don't know what he can do at the college level but he deserves a chance. I can almost guarantee one of the Frosh will be gone sooner than later if they don't get mixed in better. My total guess is that Folston will not be back next year unless BK starts using him more. PLAY THE FROSH!
Irishman Part Deaux
whats wrong with cam? guy runs super hard, protects the ball and get like 4 yards every carry The problem isn't Cam, its our inept ball possession running game. 90 yds against Purdue, Really? Very predictable play calls with superior talent. -------------------Purdue-------Cincinnati Plays-Net Yards--57-226------72-425 Rushes-Yds------- 22-65-------47-221 Passing Yds-------161-------------
IRISHKENLIFER
Everyone seems to be complaining about the running backs. I don't think it's as much of a problem with the running back as it is with the blocking. If there were holes there to run through I think any of our backs could do it. The competition is overloading the front line to stop a running game because they don't respect our passing game. Until we can get effective at blocking even when they overload the line then we will struggle with our running game.
IRISH812
I've been happy with Amir until last night. Hopefully it was just a bad game but he didn't hit the he's hard enough. I thought we used GAIII perfectly last night, he does well on the edge, the problem is teams will catch on that when he's in there's a good chance we might run that pitch play. That's a problem for another day though. Cam I think cemented himself as our theo riddick 4th quarter running back. He can pick up tough yards when we need them. I think BK needs to take it game by game and when he sees a RB struggling like AC last night, give Folston or Bryant some of his carries. CTHindman
I am still waiting to see this elite O-line we were supposed to have. I have not seen many holes for any of our backs. I do think Cam worked his butt off last night, but for us to have the running game we all want, our line needs to get better.
REMND
I think the game was way more competitive than they expected. They needed to go with experience. The game was in doubt until the end.

That is sorely lacking out of the RB group ND has put on the field so fat this season.
