just letting people take the time to read some of the comments. some smart, some saying we were going to suck.

point is it is one game, it is a win, and now we get better.

I agree.

To say we're going to lose three straight off what we saw today is simply idiotic.

Every game is different, to be judged unto itself.

The Michigan we saw today was different than the one we saw last week. The Standford we saw today is different than the one we'll see the last week in Novemeber. USC was different this week compared to last and on and on and on.

Enjoy the win. Get some things straightened out.

Get better

Once you leave

Hey mac, hope all is well.

The irony as I see it is he's actually TRYING to brighten the mood around here - a mood I think is ridiculously too pessimistic at the moment.

We're gonna be fine.

We're not an 12-win team, maybe.

But 10 or 11, absolutely.

Everyone is who they are on this board - the constant realits/whining gets old too. But at the end of the day we're all ND fans.

I just don't think we're nearly a finished product yet, and I think we have a chance to be very good.

Not last year good, but plenty good enough.

I don't see any unwinnable games on the schedule, that's for sure.

I Wondered how board reacted after last year's purdue game ... seeing as most conclusions are drawn in stone after a lackluster victory.

found this.

And what about the 3-5 years prior to that? Jesus I swear you are going to be talking about 2012 for the next century. If last year is your measuring stick then you are going to be very disappointed. Apparently everyone but you realizes that we weren't the second best team in the country last year.

And NO, with the talent and coaches we have, last night was not good enough.

You mean like you did all last year? "Kelly is an 8-5 coach, this is an 8-5 team, that is what they did last year, blah blah blah."

Hearing you say that to him is like watching the pot call the kettle black.

Last season, I didn't need to bring up 2010/2011 to explain why I thought 2012 was an 8 win team. For preseason predictions, I understand that you have to do that but we have now seen what this year's team looks like so there is no longer a need to reference it.

He is bringing up 2012 reactions to explain why he thinks we will still win 10 games this year. 2012 has nothing to do with the 2013 team.

The difference between 2012 and 2013 is at least there were flashes of brilliance and promise among the Saturdays where we put up poor stats---as we did with Purdue. We hung 50 on Navy and dominated both sides of the ball, so laying an egg against Purdue the following week was less appalling.

Not too mention that the team had spent a week in Ireland 5 days before and had a QB making his second career start. Just a little different then this last week.

I love how Tommy looks exactly the same as he did leading ND to an 8 win season, the offense is averaging 25 points per game and the defense looks nothing like it did last year, but people are crazy to think this team might lose a few games.

Lets not forget, Golson won the Pitt and Oklahoma games last year and did things vs Mich St that Tommy can't do.

We can talk about how great ND was last year til the cows come home. This year, ND looked average vs a team who lost to Fordham, looked average vs a team who almost lost to Indiana St and lost to a Michigan team who struggled with Akron.

It isn't like ND has played murderers row so far.

echo, I posted an old thread which i was not a part of to show similar over reaction to last season's purdue game. that is all.

other posters are saying you predicted 8-5 last year. Did you change that prediction after 2012 purdue game?

we cant predict how the entire season will go just because of one night in west lafayette.

Last year it was the second game. One was dominating, one was poor.

ND is a 1/4 of the way through the year, has a loss and has looked very average vs two totally inferior opponents. Plenty of field time to judge this team. Could they play better? Sure. But the team we've seen for three games this year will win 7 games.
