OlympiaIrishFan 0
Maybe he isn't fully recovered. He couln't lift, and maybe his strength is behind like his speed. And the weight doesn't help. But, he isn't getting any push really. Kind of sad to watch a stud not really perform. And a great kid. JTennant 290
I would really like to see more Jarron Jones. Big Stephon is out of shape this year. Hopefully he'll be back next year.

OlympiaIrishFan 0
No way he is back, or a very slim chance. Sure wish he would. But, I don't see it. We got super lucky with Zach Martin, Manti, Nix. Really lucky.
Parseghians theorem 0
I wonder about this, too. but im not convinced teams are just beating our pressure with short quick passes. Our LBs didnt seem to be fast enough to catch up in the flats or on crossing routes. who knows. maybe he is out of shape. we arent 100 percent sure though. OlympiaIrishFan 0
OUr backers are so poor the quick pass is definately killing us. Carlo/Fox/Grace are very, very poor players. Jaylon is really doing a lot, not perfect but he is doing alright.

We got super lucky with Zach Martin, Manti, Nix. Really lucky. How can you say that, like you know with any certainty? If he is still dealing with injuries and it continues through the rest of the season, and as a result his draft stock slips considerably, who's to say he doesn't think to himself that one more healthy season at ND drives his draft stock back up and there's no Clowney to go ahead of him in the draft? If he doesn't seem to get it together this season, I'd say the Irish have a 50/50 shot of having him back next season. And since you mentioned Martin, Te'o and Nix, you forgot to mention Floyd, Rudolph, Eifert and Clausen (despite his NFL career). I'd say ND has a pretty awesome track record of keeping it's NFL talent longer than people expect.
RockyBoiman 0
oh ok so when a handful of us said he was overweight in camp looks like we were right? wheres all the people who adamantly defended his size? our defense looks so overrated right now. what was the cincy purdue score, 41-7? Parseghians theorem 0
no one knows for a fact that he is overweight (or over the weight they asked him to play at) right? all just speculation based on what they see?
RockyBoiman 0
when a guy is slow and cant make plays hes either over weight or has an injury
Island Domer 0
IMHO, he is not playing like he has in the past. Something is not right. He is slower, less aggressive ( it seems) and lacking the intensity that was his hallmark. I know it has been said that in the past he took plays off, but it feels like he is taking entire games of halves off. Seems like something is not right. He is much more talented than his play has shown thus far in 2013. ***personal opinion!

Yes we do as there was a SBT article saying he was heavy and working with a former coach to get back in shape.

This is a great post. And thank you for sharing. I missed the article on this board, and overall. http://www.southbendtribune.com/sports/college/notredame/football/article_74287f32-07a7-11e3-adfd-001a4bcf6878.html But it does say he wants to play this year at 310, and was at 322 in the spring. notre dame roster has him listed 312. last year he was listed at 303. Island Domer 0
He looked better at 303, for sure.
Frankus 210
No way he is back, or a very slim chance. Sure wish he would. But, I don't see it. He better look like the old Tuitt by the end of the year and the NFL combine, because there's a huge difference between 1st round money and 5th round. Gatsby 0
It's not just Tuitt, NONE of our linemen have approached expectation and that is where everything starts. They help the backers and the defensive backs. The D has been the problem and if we get it together will be the salvation.

I included Prince because we play lots of 4 man fronts. We are ranked #26 in rushing defense, but I wonder what we'd be ranked without all those QB scrambles that our linebacker's have not been able to handle. Domer Dude 0
Hard to say without film reviews. He averaged 3.5 tackles per game last year but the offense had to deal with Manti as well. The offenses may be keying on him and Nix more. The coaches may be having them play differently with different assignments. We lost - Manti, Motta, Spond, KLM, Springman. That's a lot of big, experienced people. The news guys need time for the game to slow down. Having a lot of people playing around in peak form makes everyone else better.
