nd1989
Surprised at Tommy's arm strength. Much stronger this year. He had a few passes, the two TD's to DD, were both strong throws. I think he throws harder than we thought. I thought he was actually throwing it too hard at the start of the game. Receivers were dropping it or were almost being knocked down.. Now has issues modulating it though Lost some of the touch he had
JTennant
I don't see any improvement in his arm strength. I said before the season that he would have no problem throwing the deep ball and that it would be the intermediate throws he'd have trouble with. He almost threw a pick 6. While that was a poor read because the corner was sitting down and had not yet started to turn his hips, a stronger arm would have got the ball there on time. Haven't seen that one before....

Receivers were dropping it or were almost being knocked down.. Your joking right? I think his arm strength has improved slightly, but not anything crazy. Arm strength is just one of those things you have or you don't, there's not really any way to improve it immensely.
JTennant
A go route? Meh. It was a nice ball, but that was probably 40 yards in the air..? That doesn't take a whole lot of arm strength to throw that ball.
Frankus
One thing is certain: No matter how well Rees plays, people will complain about him.
irishfan82
One thing is certain: No matter how well Rees plays, people will complain about him. EXACTLY!! The arm chair quarterbacks have a hard time removing their heads from their butts. He is not the best guy in the world but he is solid and does a good job at moving the ball. However, he is plagued by a bad running game, weak defense, and honestly questionable play calling.

That pass is an NFL pass, that is called the most difficult throw in college, and how you distinguish NFL QBs from college QBs. That was probably the strongest throw by Tommy I have ever seen. That "out" that JT says is nothing, was the jaw dropping pass from Tommy that I saw. What a pass. That was probably the first NFL pass I've seen out of Tommy. JTennant
One thing is certain: No matter how well Rees plays, people will complain about him. Let me be clear: I am not complaining about Tommy. I just don't think he improved his arm strength. Completion % and other improved stats doesn't mean he improved his arm strength. Throwing a football is an explosive muscle action which requires fast twitch muscle fibers. Aside from fibers you can train to act like fast twitch muscle fibers, you either have them or you don't. Tommy doesn't. Does that make him a bad QB? NO. It just means his arm strength is below average for BCS caliber football.

Have you ever thrown a football? It's not too difficult to throw a ball to a spot and let your athletically gifted WR outrun the defender and run under it. jfjkd1965
EXACTLY!! The arm chair quarterbacks have a hard time removing their heads from their butts. These arm chair QB's on this site probably never played QB for one, and probably can't throw a football father than 20 yards!!! I wish they would post some videos of they're so called football skills & a pick up game so we all could have a good laugh!!!

You guys are fIcking idiots and want to give Tommy a reach around because he hit a deep ball. I have been in Tommy's fan camp since day 1(more or less), but your reasoning that Tommy's arm strength is improved because he hit a deep ball is stupid. Those aren't considered "arm strength" throws. Those are deep balls with touch. Doesn't require a cannon to throw those. FWIW. I can throw a football 35-40 yards without pads or defenders in my face (backyard style) haha.
Frankus
It just means his arm strength is below average for BCS caliber football. He threw an 82 yard TD pass to Daniels, and if Chris Brown was as talented as Daniels, he would have had an 80 yard TD pass. Brown, who is still not comfortable catching the ball and then running, stepped out of bounds when a good receiver would have taken it to the house. I am certain that teams understand that Rees and our receivers can beat them deep.
