echo88
Jaylon Smith should be playing all the time. it always seems opposing teams play their best game against ND. It may seem that way until you realize that we are just not that good...
ckp160
I think Russell is going to be a very good corner. He's going through the growing pains everybody wants with the young guys. Last year was his first year playing corner. He's a TRUE SOPH converted RB.
zemaniak
It may seem that way until you realize that we are just not that good... Yes, but why? We are just a few players from lastvyear's squad Indon't recall where you stand on coaching

We are just a few players from lastvyear's squad Indon't recall where you stand on coaching Did you watch the first half? That was Purdue. They lost by 4 TDs to Cincinnati. This was not a ND team missing some playmakers. We were completely inept across the board.

Were we just lucky last year? Is our coaching staff inept?

Were we just lucky last year? Is our coaching staff inept? Bama reloads because they recruit the best players, they recruit higher numbers and weed out the guys who don't work out, and they have a HC who will probably go down as the best coach in college football history. Also their boosters pay players. We can't compete with that.
LionEyes
WR looks Great, TE, we will see, OL looks great and so does RB, but there are still alot of holes.. RB looks great? Based on what? Our RBs look very average. Little cutting ability and not very elusive in space. If you can't elude tacklers then run them over... but we're not seeing that either. Were we just lucky last year? Is our coaching staff inept? Also, I've said it a hundred times over the last several years. We simply cannot win a title in the current landscape of college football. SEC teams are in a hotbed of talent, they rarely abide by NCAA recruiting rules, they have virtually no academic qualifications for their players, and their players are constantly bombarded with benefits from boosters. The last time we won a title, we had players who wouldn't qualify for ND right now. To win a title is a pipe dream until the playing field is leveled. We can't even keep the incredibly talented players we somehow land.
VCDomer
Am I alone when I think ND always plays to the level of their competition? Excluding Bama of course. And by no means am I happy about this performance. You are not alone
VCDomer
thought grace was decent. Fox gave up a TD if you ask me. Will hafta watch it again but mostly agree with Frankus and Rocket.. Calling that out. Grace played the same as all of them....HORRIBLE
irishfan82
I still am not a fan of GAIII as a standard running back. Right now it is Carlisle and McDaniel ahead of him but with his speed he is lethal IF he can hit the edge. I really want to see Bryant and Folston get in more and keep Amir moving around. Now, I do have my criticisms but outside of TJ Jones and Zack Martin and Nix we have no seniors that can't be replaced by the guys behind them and get more athletic next year. echo88
Calling that out. PJacksonsDred15
Calling that out. Grace played the same as all of them....HORRIBLE Agree with this. Grace has bad coordination and doesn't look very athletic out there. The "young talent" is gonna leave if BK doesn't start playing them. He doesn't always play the best players and that's a problem. Lol and how did that work out? We made that game because of a series of incredibly generous bounces. The final score revealed that there were at least 4 teams who deserved to be there more than we did. We are, and will continue to be, an 8 or 9 win team who couldn't sniff the jocks of the SEC powerhouses. I'm sure Boise state is real proud of their undefeated records too.. ND won 12 games against tough competition. luck or not that was a solid team. and I truly believe the team was better than the score revealed in that BCS game. u cant go through life never believing you cant attain the impossible. if you do the you will never win anything this might not be you but im tired of people saying they are die hard fans and the if the team struggles or doesnt look like you want the to, people completely **** on them. why? what for? if you support the team you have to have a little homer in you. but ill never again take these games so seriously where i trash the institution and program or the ACTUAL humans who provide those people with your year round entertainment. we won. let's enjoy the week with our loved ones and then kick back have a couple brews and warch ND winagain next week GO IRISH! Echo, sadly, I think you are right. The gap is big and growing. Watching Alabama vs A&M yesterday was shocking. Both of those teams would beat Notre Dame by at least 30. Yes, last year was a blast, but it was a 9 win team who happened to win 12 games. Yes, every team gets a few breaks to win them all, but they get those breaks vs equal competition. How many breaks does Bama need vs the likes of Pitt, BYU and Purdue? Bama needs a break to beat LSU, not squeak by Purdue or Pitt. Just watch an SEC games and tell me that looks anythingike Notre Dame. Now, Id rather Notre Dame win 9 games the right way then 11 the SEC way, but that is the way it is. Echo and others are right, the playing field isn't level enough for ND to compete every year. Heck, Fordham scored more points vs Temple then ND did. We can say it vanilla O all we want, Alabama could run the ba every single play and score 40 on Temple.
