REMND 0
I will start. We did not play well last night under the lights before 115,000 fa s on the road. We really didn't and still could have won the game if we had executed better. The sky is not falling because the run game is sure to get better as Bryant and Folston emerge. Bryant, Folston and Amir are probably our best 3 RBs. 40 carried and 200 yds a game we should be getting. Now, how are we going to improve our defense that lost 4 starters? NYNDIRISH723 14
The sky isnt falling because USC is really bad, Oklahoma's offense is so so and we have a good shot against every other team on the schedule (save Stanford and maybe BYU). 9-3 or 10-2 is still a decent bet. IrishOrDie 0
The sky isn't falling because it's the second freaking game of the season. We shouldn't fire Diaco, Kelly isn't Weis 2.0 which some posters seem to be hinting, and the defense will only improve. We weren't going undefeated anyway... Oh, and if we suck this season we get Golson back next year.
toddrhodes 98
We have depth and a plethora of young talent. Despite the chicken littles, our staff recruits well and generally "gets" both the University and her fans. We need to improve the middle of the D and safety play and work in contain, playing within themselves. I believe all of those things are fixable and the potential for this team to explode is palpable. Niklas is a man among boys and Carlisle is the real deal. ST seem to have improved as well. TheRizz 5
Devin Gardner beat ND. Diaco and C Martin dont need to be replaced. We just got beat on national tv, on the road, against 105k fans. One other note, there were a lot of blown coverages by our defense. Diaco did mix up the blitzes and I Williams was a rushing middle linebacker multiple times. Unfortunately, with all of changes in defense, we had lots of people out of position. Especially our safeties.

NDNorm 50
-- How do we know that won't be one of the more dynamic offenses we see all season? -- The offenses of some of the traditional "names" on the sked, who just by name alone assumes a tough sked?....wow, not so much, and so many new starting QB's. -- MSU/OK/USC at our house. -- There are a lot of weapons on Offense. I won't mention the fact that the list of things as to why the sky MAY WELL be falling would be................well, I just won't mention it. This^. Michigan has what is probably the best offense on our schedule. USC was abysmal last night despite the best receiving core in the country. We should match up well against the power run games of Stanford and BYU. MSU has been horrendous on offense. I know nothing about ASU's offense, so I can't say. What I would add is that our defense is having immense trouble containing the edge and monitoring perimeters. This is on Shembo and our secondary, who need to grow up fast. Or they'll get picked on all season.

Especially our safeties. It did seem like a great example of where one players efforts rexceeded our teams efforts. There was more involved, like why was Devan able to connect with one receiver so easily, but Devan was the difference. So defense has to look at itself and communicate more or something. I say or something because I am not a fool enough to think I know more than Diaco.
chirodomer 47
Michigan finally ran Brady Hoke's offense. They looked just like the Ball State offense a few years ago. They're going to hang half a hundred on 5-6 teams this year and take Ohio State to the mat for the big ten title
DiegoIrish 0
Outside of Rees I didn't think we were THAT bad. Michigan looks like the real deal and we could've easily won that game if it weren't for one of the few fluke plays that we were cursed with. I thought Gardner was very impressive, he threw some passes that were just incredible and eluded our pressure throwing with fists in his face. Sometimes a guy like that just makes you look dumb and that was us last night on a bunch of plays. This is what we should've expected with Tommy. I think Hendrix is worth getting some shots so we can at least run some read option and keep them guessing on the long ball. Tommy's inability to even escape pressure is what keeps us from sustaining drives and RZ scoring.
ndmike88 141
You people crack me up. Why is it that the Irish will only get better as the season goes on but the other teams on the schedule won't?
NDhoosier 1,336
How about... we lost one game, on the road. -End-

Rocketsan 877
How about... we lost one game, on the road. -End- Very simplistic. OP: Realists don't think the sky is falling. Personally I counted this as an expected loss. Next week will speak volumes about this team. Either they man up and fix some glaring discrepancies or they'll fold up tent and this season runs the risk of being a sh!tshow.
hawaiiirish 62
yep we will bounce back--I completely expect to win the next two--purdue will be a confidence builder and MSU just isn't good enough to beat us IMHO----- After that I am not so sure what happens when we step up against Oklahoma/USC /ASU----I am hoping we get two but it will be tough--- team & STAFF need to regroup aloha
