jon33dn
The prevailing opinion seems to be that Rees is a good kid, tries hard, fairly savvy, and fatally limited in his physical capabilities. Playing up to his full potential and being asked to do WAY too much by an ego maniac coach who is never to blame for anything... Fair enough, but Rees makes these games unwatchable. The dying quail throws are laughable and we are going to see more than 4 losses with the product we saw on the field last night. Wake me up when Rees is pulled for Hendrix or Golson returns. You are ridiculous. Tommy played well last night and I am one of the biggest Tommy "turnover" guys you will find. Last nights loss was due to HORRIBLE defense play and a lack of good running back play after Carlisle. Honestly, the Dline was not bad but the linebackers were bad as a whole and the secondary was really bad. The biggest disappointment all night was GAIII and his frying pan hands. I am ready for them to get Bryant and Folston in there with Carlisle to get the running back corps moving forward.

BrianKellyWasNotTheMan
Really Tommy didnt play bad if he runs more he keeps plays a lot more open, also if we run the ball more Tommy has a lot less pressure.
IrishFan33
last nights loss was not Tommy's fault... Were supposed to have a great line but have not shown a running game. Our MLB are garbage w/o Teo and our secondary is being exposed.... I have said since last season, Farley is horrible and and that Russell is not a good corner... I have no idea how he got an award last season.... look it up if you want, i have always said Russell and Farlet are not good.... Kelly is trying to run an offense that is impossible to run with TRees and it is not fair to him, he is doing the best he can with the skills he has.... We "MUST" run the ball... from the start of the game we must establish a running game and play action from there...we have great WR's that will be open... Kelly and Martin must adjust to Tommy.... And as far as Diaco... you still think he should be the next HC... Yea he was exposed once again, that was't Temple out there Bobby Edited September 8, 2013 by SpeedsterX
IrishOrDie
Another Tommy Rees thread. Geez. Why don't you wake up when the defense does?
ColinKSU
I've spent the past three years hating on Tommy at every single possible opportunity, but last night wasn't on him. If you think it was, then you didn't watch the game. Wake up. He's ND's best (and only) option at QB.
Phillydomer
Amazing to me that Tommy Rees is the whipping boy in a loss in which Michigan hung 41 points on us. Rees played under constant pressure to move the ball quickly and in large chunks, having to give up on the running game in order to keep up with UM. All things considered, I think he did a very good job given the position he was placed in. As others have said: this loss falls on the laps of our linebackers and secondary. Guys have to wrap up and tackle. This is looking eerily reminiscent of a Charlie Weis defense.

Yea he was exposed once again, that was't Temple out there Bobby I agree with you, and I think you have some of the best ND & football insight on the board. I thought the pistol was supposed to help run and play action... although it would be nice if Rees could extend the play for just another 2 seconds. I thought a potent run game was in the offing based on summer & fall camp reports. I hope & trust GA3 has used up all his 2nd chance cards. I hope Amir is set as lead back, and I hope Bryant emerges as he seems to have the build for the most power... kind of like Jonas Gray. MLB is a disaster... someone needs to step up fast. I thought GRACE would be starting this year... maybe over the next couple of games?
hawaiiirish
Tommy is what he is---he threw a few picks , he threw a few Tds, he missed some open guys he hit some nice slants---- Expecting MORE from REES after two games is just wishful thinking-- That said WE GAVE UP 41 POINTS---Holy Mother of God--anyone who saw that coming please mail me your crystal ball. GIVEN THE TALENT ON THIS DEFENSE---ITS STUNNING--- Looking for a GOAT don't look at Tommy---LOOK AT BOBBY DIACO now 5-9 against mobile QBs---Kelly needs to point some of that RED FACED HYSTERIA IN HIS DIRECTION! aloha's
ckp160
I don't think Tommy is a bad quarterback, or a great quarterback. He's serviceable. Asking him to fling it all over the yard is too much. Especially given his propensity for turnovers. You ask a kid like him to throw it 51 times and you're lucky if you only end up with 2 picks to be honest. I think it's unfair to ask him to carry the load. You dial that down to 25-30 a game and I really think his efficiency starts to show. He's limited.... you work within those limitations. Let the run set up his throws. IrishOrDie
Wake me up when this weekend is over. ND got smacked around by Michigan, the Browns lost the season opener, and the Indians blew a critical game today just as we were catching up in the wild card race. Oh, and I'm getting destroyed by a freaking 10 year old in fantasy football right now. I NEED A DRINK!

If you think it was, then you didn't watch the game. Wake up. He's ND's best (and only) option at QB. The end of the first half INT was a freshman mistake.... HORRIBLE decision to throw that ball, or at least to throw it to the intended target... and I'm beyond tired of his fadeaway throws off the back foot. Gardner beat us... he stepped up into pressure and made great throws.
