I can really care less about me. I really don’t do it for me. Yes, I love the game. Yes, I love the competitiveness. This is the highest stage of them all. Like I said, at the end of the day, I don’t do this for me at all. If I can make a lot of money and I can give it all to my daughter, that’s exactly what I plan to do. If my mom can live happy and I can do some things to help her, help my dad, help my brothers and sisters, that’s what I’m going to do. At the end of the day, I can really care less about me. As long as my daughter is fine and my family is okay, I’m okay at that point.”
chirodomer
As long as he has his degree then he will be fine. Running backs just don't last very long in the league.

2lakes
Depending on the length of his career, he may have cost himself a couple million by coming out early... Even if he impresses and gets serious PT this year, that pales in comparison to a starting contract being picked in the 2nd or early 3rd round. And imagine the stacked backfield we would have right now. http://binaryapi.ap.org/3e255a714a5e4ecfa45daf5487a9858b/940x.jpg

He was all class. “Having to make a decision like whether to stay in school or leave to pursue a lifelong dream of playing in the NFL is never simple,” Wood said. “I had to weigh many factors over the last month, but ultimately it came down to what I felt was the right decision that would most benefit my family. With that in mind, I’m leaving Notre Dame and am entering my name for this year’s NFL Draft. “There are so many people I need to thank that have helped get me to this point. My teammates are friends I know I’ll have the rest of my life. I’ll miss hanging out with them in the locker room and around campus. They are a great group of guys and are poised for success next year. “I also want to thank all of the coaches, specifically Coach Kelly and Coach Alford. Coach Kelly has the program heading in the right direction and I’m happy to know he’ll remain our head coach in the future. Coach Alford has been so much more than a coach to me. He’s been a mentor and a role model. He’s helped turn me into the man I am today. “Lastly, I want to thank the school, our fans and the extended Notre Dame family. The love and appreciation you’ve shown me in my four years can never be repaid. I’ll always remember the ovation I received as I ran out of the tunnel on senior day and I can’t thank you enough.”

But the big payday in the NFL comes after the 3rd year when their rookie contract expires and they get to sign a contract based on their actual value. Now Wood gets that big payday one year earlier and with less wear and tear on his body which is HUGE for a RB. Het gets an additional year of getting paid before he turns 30 which is the magic number for RBs.

You won't find me bashing Cierre - same goes the current RB discussion. Are we the only team with 2 backs going into the NFL this year? PJacksonsDred15
Fu*k Cierre... He didnt play in the NC game... was afraid of getting hurt, ND invested a scholly on you, finish the job, then move on Last time I checked, Cierre Wood didn't call the plays. Also, I remember reading that Cierre was really disappointed in only getting a few carries in the NC game. Kelly favored Riddick over Wood when I think Wood had more talent, a lot of other fans also feel this way. Kelly continues to praise Riddick when he is not even on the roster, which I think Kelly is doing to take a jab Cierre whom he did not get along with. PJacksonsDred15
this coming from someone I believe to have inside info on the program. anything to divulge here? http://www.vcstar.com/news/2013/feb/27/potkey-cierre-wood-displeased-with-role-in-bcs/ Wood discussing the National Championship Game: “Obviously, I didn’t get the ball as much as I wanted,” Wood told the Chicago Tribune. “I wasn’t going to pout or get mad about it or anything. All I was going to do was make the best out of my opportunities that I did get.” Notre Dame suspended Wood for the first two games of the season for violating teams rules. During the season, Wood said he talked to the Notre Dame coaches about getting more carries and asked if there were plays he wasn’t running right. “They expect you to fall apart, they expect you to pout, they expect you to get an attitude,” said Wood, who finished the season with 114 carries for 742 yards. “I wasn’t going to follow that type of trend. I was going to use it as motivation. Things really didn’t go my way. I want to translate that into something positive.” Goes against everything Irish 33 is saying about the guy. Irish33 better be right before flaming like that.

corysold
Watch the film of his 2 carries? You have to watch it 10 times, then you see 20 carries. Much bigger sample to judge by. Though I think he had 4 carries and 2 yards, so that gives you 40 carries to look at.
