ErickJD08
I think people need to lay off the kid. I see so many posters putting him fourth or fifth on the depth chart and whatnot. If you re-watch the game and look at his carries, there was maybe one run that could have done a better job with. Other than that, two of his carries were situational (third and short and goalline), and the others were not well executed (there was a misdirectional delayed handoff that NMartin messed up and others). For me, GAIII and AC are still the 1A,1B backs. This was Amir's first game against live competition in almost 2 years. He had a solid game. And GAIII had a solid game too. I think if the OL plays better as a unit, GAIII will show everyone why he's back there.

I don't dispute that GAIII didn't have the biggest holes and he got what the line game him, I just think that has always been the concern with him. He gets whatever the line gives him. George has had the ball in his hands quite a bit over 3 seasons, and I'd wager I can count on one hand the times he made a defender miss to gain extra yards. I agree George still needs touches. He's an 80 yard TD waiting to happen. But I think he needs them like he had last year. 8-10 times a game, give him a package, try to get him the ball in space and see if he can break a big one. IrishOrDie
Alright. Well, when he gets blown up against a much more talented Michigan team you'll be clamoring for someone else to run the rock. He should stick to kick returns anda couple of trick plays here and there. His speed is amazing, but that's all he has. He's shown a little more ability to lower the shoulder, but he seems like he doesn't have any leg strength which is critical for a running back to move the chains. Also can't make guys miss. Worries me against stiffer competition. Would rather see a combination of Amir, Cam, and Bryant. Just a personal opinion. Don't hate the kid, but I just don't see an every down back. This is pretty much my opinon as well. I don't dislike the kid at all, he just has never shown anything to make me think he is even close to being the #1 back for this team. Katzenboyer
He was moved to RB sort out out of necessity when we looked to be short on numbers. He was recruited as a WR and I think that's what he's best suited for. Still, he's a guy you have to keep feeding in order to get him in space. He may be an athlete playing football, but the potential reward there is just too good to pass up.
piratey
GAIII isn't some, hyperbole, 5th on the depth chart guy. GAIII is what GAIII was last year. He's a specialty back. I would like to see Amir or Bryant get a majority of the touches with GAIII being used correctly.

Amir is fast enough, Cam is tough enough, and Greg & Tarean are big enough to carry the load.. We need to use GA3 in some sort of specialty role.. KR, PR, and "screen" back, maybe? Though, defenses may catch on to that one.
PJacksonsDred15
After watching him for three years, I am just not sure he has the hips or feet of a great running back. Amir, Bryant and Folston do. Cam has the grit.

Parseghians theorem
I have to agree with this. sadly, at least from what we have seen in games, he doesnt show great cutting and re-acceleration that same of the best backs around the country do

The way we used him against Miami and some other teams was the way we need to use him. I'd also like to see some more screens with Atkinson from the backfield and slot, same with those quick shovel passes we used in years past with BK. He has had 60 carries over two seasons. 7 of them resulted in touchdowns. I think the OL wasn't stellar against Temple and I think GAIII is a solid back for this team. Some of that can be put on the o-line, but most of it falls on Atkinson. And a great back will find ways to push the ball forward. One of the first plays of the game he showed toughness lowering his shoulder, but he got blasted hard. And that's against a smaller Temple team. EddieAngel
Between Cam's Grit and Tommy's Moxy, we have enough 1920's adjectives to open our own speakeasy Will no one even give credit to TJ for his gumption? Sad. IRT GAIII, though, I think he just paled in comparison to Carlisle. I like Atkinson, I just think he didn't look nearly as refined as Amir. I still think he has potential, we will see. He did look like the weakest back, though. IMO.
