hawaiiirish
Very happy and excited to see Mr Brown making it as a starter---He makes the WR corp really POP--- With Tommy limited in arm strength having a guy like brown gives even a guy sans a ROCKET ARM the chance to go deep. WR & Recieving corps looks very nice---its up to Tommy to cash in with these guys----He has EXPERIENCE--with Davaris & TJ----SPEED with Brown---Height with Corey---Strength with Hercules---- Make something happen Tommy! aloha's go irish! REMND
Rees has good tools to use at wide receiver. The consensus in the beginning was that receiver was questionable because of experience. Now it seems to be a huge strength in people's minds. I think BK said we can go as deep as 8 or 9. I think that means TJ, Daniels, Brown, Smith, Robinson, Onwuala, Prosise, Amir, Fuller. Even Mahone at Slot is impressing the staff.
OKCIrish99
I agree. Just hope his hands have improved. Other than the big OU catch last season, he had a few bad drops. Stunned that Prosise isn't even in the 2 deep.
hawaiiirish
They said over on II that we shouldn't read too much into prosise not in the two deep--that he WILL PLAY! We have many potential playmakers, offense is going to depend SO SO MUCH on how our QB holds up & distributes the ball---I guess that was always going to be the case. aloha's
irishguy773
I'm tempering my expectations after seeing Kelly kind of knock Brown's work this offseason. Said he needed to make it much more consistent. Hopefully, not just coasting on his natural speed.

ndomer4
Jeez when was the last time so many good players were fighting for playing time. When guys like Prosise, Welch and Bryant can't crack the two deep you know your loaded. I think our two deep is better than a descent amount of schools, there's tons of competition within. Receiver was a little questionable before but now is arguably the deepest position on the team. Can't wait for the season to start, getting pretty excited already. Sure hope Prosise gets in the mix. He looked darn good in the spring game. Great size and hands.
OklahomaIrish
The future at receiver is just amazing. These 4 star studs are in the wings with guys like Fuller and Brent. Longo is putting lots of muscle on these skinny super athletes and turning guys like DeVaris into more like Michael Floyds. Brown is much bigger and stronger. So many weapons we are building and refining.
dsnack34
I am hoping that without a dominant player like Floyd or Eifert, TR will not zone in on one player like he used to. The only way we get more points this year is if TR spreads it around and isn't so predictable.

I too wonder about it as TR has NEVER not keyed on one guy; Floyd a couple years ago and Eifert last.

I actually felt like BK praised his offseason work (getting bigger) but more questioned his consistency in fall camp. One play would be amazing and the next would leave them scratching their heads. He also said the sky is the limit for Chris once he puts it all together. He said the same thing last year about DD. And, we are now expecting DD to be a monster this year. I'd expect Chris will have a similar year to what DD did last year.

I see what you're saying but this could almost be a strength. TR is able to read defenses pre-snap and have a pretty good idea who should be open. Now, that was easier with AA players like Floyd/Eifert. But, I'm thinking senior TR will have improved here and know where the ball should go pre snap. He just has more options know based on our current receiving/TE core.

Go back and watch the BYU game, time and time again Tommy zones in on Eifert even when he's not open. He forces passes into double coverage a lot, that's why we didn't throw the ball too much in the second half.

FaithInIrish Forever
stops the 8 man box. Even if Brown is a bit of a decoy since he put that Oklahoma catch on film teams will hafta play more honest to respect his speed.

I'm not worried about the 8-man box, I'm actually worried about the Drop 8. It was what teams did to Tommy 2 years ago and Jimmy before him. Tommy has to be able to buy time with his feet, move the pocket, etc this year otherwise we'll have lots of stalled drives again.
