Anyone actually know anything about Temple?

Okay, it's game week...for Temple and there's zero talk of the opposition. So, I thought I'd change that.

So far I've gathered they have a new coach and will be starting a quarterback who's never taken a snap.

They were like 4-8 last year I believe, hence the new coach.

I'm not pretending like we'll have any concerns for game but is there anything that could give us fits? ANYTHING?

Or is this truly the scrub game we should be opening up with?

Last year they were 110th in total offense.

31st in rushing at 201 YPG.

120th in passing O at 120 YPG.

86th in scoring (ND was 80th FWIW).

92nd in total defense at 426 YPG.

102nd in rushing defense at 196 YPG.

69th is pass defense at 237 YPG.

119th in passer rating defense, which shows teams didn't have to pass much, hence an average YPG average, but when they did, Temple couldn't stop them.

87th in scoring defense ast 31.2 PPG.

Their wins were vs. i-AA Villanova, 3-9 South Florida, 5-7 UConn and 2-10 Army.

They don't have a single 4* upper-classman on the roster and only 2 in total. At least half of their players were rate 2* or lower. They'll be undersized compared to ND at every position. Their LB's average about 227. Their DE's are 248 and 258.

They have a brand new QB taking his first snap ever at Notre Dame stadium. I know that is all "on paper", but if ND doesn't win this one going away, 49-6 type, something went really wrong.

All I know is their coach gives his toughest players single digit jerseys... so... I guess look out for #1-9 :noidea:

HAHAHA I read that somewhere too

not laughing at their coach's methods....Just laughing at this strategy because it actually could work lol

Yeah. I thought it was a kind of neat way to motivate guys to work harder. It seems like more and more, unis and numbers mean a lot to these kids. Interesting to see if this method pans out for Temple. It also has me thinking, what if an o-lineman gets one of the numbers? I don't think I've ever seen a single digit o-linemen before.

On the other hand, it might make the other team try to prove to #1 that he isn't all that tough.

If they don't have a couple of OLine in single digits, it could be a longer day for the new QB.

The previous HC left for Boston College...they liked his work at Temple.

New HC, Matt Ruhle, is believed to be a rising star. Was with the Giants last year...very highly respected. Commands a room when he walks in.

That being said...the talent gap is immense.

The Owls have been "practicing"/scrimmaging" on grass fields in and around Philly to get ready for the grass of South Bend.

The Owls will be game...size and speed are too much.

Irish by 28.

So says this Irish kid from Philly...just sayn

Couple things to look for:

power and counter;

Their offensive guards are the best part of their line and maybe their team.

Pete White is a Senior at 330. Jeff Whittingham is a senior at 305

That is strength against strength though and our D-line and Carlo should be up for it

I exoect them to try to run maybe at Day , pullinng a guard to be in front but I think that's where Shembo will be too

QB will be new so if I'm Diaco I'm giving him a different look every snap unless it appears ND is so advantaged that we don't need to which could be the case. I'd be fine with Bennett and Russell in 1 on 1 so Diaco is free to bring the house in my opinion

I Feel that their are plenty of places the offense can go to get a favorable matchup. If ND executes a play well run or pass it should be a positive gainer. As Kelly said in his presser, play a "clean game" and ND will like the results in my opinion.

I'd be surprised to see their O Line push our D Line around which should make for a pretty easy game as far as run D goes. Even Bama had a tough time getting good creases at least early in the game... Our backers just missed some tackles in the hole.

yeah I agree I'm not saying that they will win much on the ground. I'm just saying that if I'm there coach I run inside behind 330 and 305 or I pull that big guy around to be my lead blocking wall.

They are at an absolute disadvantage and should lose this game 9.5 times out of 10. I'm just saying the gaurds are D1 size unlike the rest of their team

When I have to talk about Guards and can't name a single skill player other than Reilly I'm reaching:)

I was looking at temples depth chart last night and their starting LT is listed at 250 lbs. and their two starting DEs are listed at 220 lbs. and 230 lbs. that's not much beef were you want it. tuitt should run right over their LT all game long.
