roarcity269
Lane is one of those guys who just tries too hard and it never comes off the way he thinks it will. His attempt at giving ice cream to the band comes of very arrogant to me. He should have taken a left off campus and taken that truck to Compton. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/eye-on-college-football/23283569/video-lane-kiffin-marqise-lee-visit-band-in-ice-cream-truck
OKCIrish99
I saw this on Sportscenter a bit ago. This guy is something else. I'd be surprised if Haden keeps him around long term.
jbrown_9999
To me, the fact that every step was video taped and then professionally edited, this comes off as a staged (& scripted) PR stunt. What's next, the Cake Boss coming to visit?

Parseghians theorem
i guess we are a pretty cynical group. if kiffin cured cancer but video taped it, he'd still be an *******.

Promoting your own "charity work" and sending it to the media? Desperate.

Parseghians theorem
I know they have, in and amongst the community. Not giving ice cream to the band. he did something nice for people who werent expecting it. and he got nothing in return. a good deed in my eyes. there is so much bad in the world (WWII vet beaten to death, Aussie player shot in back) and we slam a guy for THIS? since when is giving out free ice cream a bad thing? sure it isnt the biggest gesture one could make but it is in no way a bad thing. maybe we should all go out today and do something to give back ... but call a camera crew first. lol Edited August 24, 2013 by Parseghian's theorem
IrishWarrior81
he did something nice for people who werent expecting it. and he got nothing in return. You could probably argue that a feature on Sports Center is not "nothing in return".

You should just do it to do it and if anybody sees and reports it, great. This is Lane Kiffin we're talking about. He doesn't do anything out of selflessness IMO. He wanted some decent PR and yea, the deed in and of itself was a very nice thing to do but his motives cheapen it greatly. I seem to remember quite a few instances of ND coaches and players (among other teams, of course) doing things for charity, going to visit sick children, etc... who never fed the story to the media but eventually it was reported and everyone gushed. That's how it should be, no contrived bullsh!t like Laney is pulling off.
Fifth Horseman
I dunno, seems kinda cool to me. Who doesn't like ice cream, especially the free kind?

That's how it should be, no contrived bullsh!t like Laney is pulling off. kelly cares puts on a football clinic in the summer for women. they charge and donate money. UND digital media records it professionally and puts a video on its site. now the level of which these things are done are not the same 1. raising money to cure cancer 2. doing something fun and giving out free ice cream on a hot day. but they are both promotional plugs to show you are doing something nice. kiffin got no money from his deed. although i did feel like it was a tosh.0 skit the entire time
