I do not know if they have to be playing but that sure would have been an interesting choice. I have read here that the players vote for the captains. I read somewhere else in posts that the staff is not passive in this. They may even choose who the candidates are. Does anyone know what the actual procedures are? Whatever they are, I think they got the right 3 guys. My only hesitancy is that I always want a special teams captain. Collinsworth was my choice.
