No no no, you guys have it all wrong. Longo decided the traditional route wasnt challenging enough. He asked the RBs to embarrass the equipment....

 

He said "If Clowney can flip a sled, our boys can run thru the gauntlet backwards..."

 

That or BK is literally trying to reverse the outcome of the title game from last year....

ESPN was complimentary of the defense and questioning about the offense as to be expected.

 

Joey Galloway pointed out that there was not a big separation between QB's. Said he could not always tell who commanded the huddle like a starter. Was however Very complimentary of one Malik Ziare saying 2014 may be a qb Battle for the ages.

5 regular season losses with this defense would put Kelly's *** on the hotseat. Hyperbole? Maybe. But three 5 loss seasons out of four years...

Wait...Limit? There isn't a "limit" on the number of games this team can win...there isn't a team on this schedule with a better roster top/down, the number don't lie there. As far as QB's go...3/4 of the teams on our schedule are breaking in new starters at the position. As far as RB's go...same deal. Coaching? If this was 1999-2003, I'd give you Bob Stoops, but because it's 2013, I don't see a better coaching staff out there.

 

Limit? Like Blake Bell in his first time starting on the road is a guaranteed loss? USC's roster is woefully thin... You gonna bank on Michigan beating us? No chance we can beat MSU's non-existent offense?

 

I don't think we'll win 'em all(I mean Tommy is bound to blow a game), but to say there are three guaranteed losses on this schedule is strange

I think you are reading a bit much into what he said. One guy mentioned that the defense will give ND 6 wins just by itself. Joey said, looking at the schedule, and the mystery of the offense, he saw 5 potential losses. Not that we would lose 5 games, just that if our offense is inept, then there is certainly a potential to lose 5 games with our schedule. I don't think anyone can really argue that point. We all seem to be pretty positive about our offense, but we don't really have a clue how that will all shake out.

My apologies for not being clear. I used the term limit while thinking something else in my head.

 

Meant that as a "limit" for losses. Can't lose more than three games bowl game included. Have to win AT LEAST 9 games. and if we were 9-3 regular season, then 10-3 would be a solid season if we win FIRST BCS game. 9 wins and a bowl loss is stinky.

 

I know it sounds lame, but ND has the potential to lose to about anyone on their schedule (almost lost to Pitt last year, Purdue almost beat Ohio St. last season, right). but navy and air force (just think for now we have a great plan to out power those teams. just can't limit our possessions and get behind and let them control the tempo, limiting NDs chances for comebacks, etc.

In that case, we're lock step! I agree that the absolute minimum record that'd be acceptable is 9-3.
