Article says they are recruiting him as a linebacker even though he looks like he'd be a good strong safety. Well the staff knows what they're doing, but does anyone think we'll get this kid? ndomer4 532
Look at his offer list and you tell me. There could be tons of reasons he may not come to ND. Maybe he realizes playing time is much tougher to get here, I don't have a clue but there's still a bunch of reasons he might pick those schools other than ND. NDhoosier 1,339
Yeargin is now Irish. Committed yesterday. He is saying that now Yeargin is committed, Drue doesn't have an actionable offer anymore. I highly doubt for two reasons. 1) they are different body types Yeargin is more of a Cat/ILB while Drue is more of a safety/dog. 2) ND still needs more LBs. chirodomer 47
We have to get him bc he is the Gary Fencik of the modern age and I already gave him a nickname.....bc He hits so hard.......NY-quil!
golson5 221
Hoosier, I say that because rivals says the coaches were projecting Drue at the ILB position. I don't know what I would do. We need LB's and definitely ILBs, but is this the guy we take at this point. Scholarships are running low and we got big name players still out there. I guess it depends on how they feel about the other guys offered, but I would wait. If we have another big year, they will come

Nyles Morgan is probably our best shot with a top rated ILB, but I am not optimistic about him being Irish. In fact, the number of scholarship offers to uncommitted ILBs are very few to be honest. I believe the staff needs to go after Drue pretty hard, I dont see him decommitting and recommitting in a matter of days or weeks.
REMND 0
I am a little perplexed. Is he a potential starter? I do not get that impression. I would rather focus on keeping Moore for a 5th year. I would rather hope we get Luatua and use him at LB. The players we have to play ILB in 2014 will be Grace, Moore, Deeb, Schmidt (?), Martini, Yeargin, Bonner, and Randolph. Maybe even Smith. The Dogs would be Smith, Councell, Randolph I bet could do it and Yeargin has been mentioned there. I am inclined to hold the scholie until next year unless they really are sold on Drue. If they were , I can't help but think they would have offered earlier. The offer just seemed to be a response to the prevailing sentiment that we had lost Yeargin to UF. chirodomer 47
I don't want any 5th years on the roster bc it means our recruiting for that position stinks. If a guy hasn't gotten the program in 3 years at ND then it's time for them to move on

Those kids just never turned into really important players on the roster. You want seniors and 5th years, if they're not Heggies. Some players blossom late and those classes are where your leaders come from. Edited August 5, 2013 by ColinKSU

Some players blossom late and those classes are where your leaders come from. This is true, some players really seem to hit their stride in their last year. We see it all the time, Motta and KLM were nothing special until last year where they transformed. Not too sure on the chances of Moore playing next year but if he is a better option than Tranquill the staff will make the right decision. I've been on the Deeb bandwagon since I watched his senior tape and been reading his tweets. I think he'll be starting next season.

Isn't Zack Martin a 5th year guy?

If a guy hasn't gotten the program in 3 years at ND then it's time for them to move on So if Louis Nix wanted to play as a fifth year, you would say no? (I believe that he has a year of eligibility left) This philosophy also suggests that no freshmen should redshirt.
